He's handed in a transfer request because he knows Spurs want him and he'll double his wages down there. Downing for Everton has less legs than a snail imo!

I don't know, mate. I reckon there are a few clubs in the UK that he would consider. These are: The Sky lot; Villa; Everton; City and Spurs. If I was him, the most attractive from a playing point of view, would be Everton. Nearly guaranteed first team football, with a solid management structure and we're a huge club, at least domestically. Downing would thrive with us in my opinion.

I agree that he'd thrive with us but good left wingers are few and far between so I think he'd get a regular starting place at most teams imo

Be great for us I recon and Moyes has shown interest in him before. Wether we go for him is something else. Boro will hope to start a bidding war. To be honest I'm surpirised Downing has stayed at Boro as long as he has, they're never gonna set the world on fire with Southgate running the show.

Forgot about spurs, after the pending £20m on Defoe are they going to fork out another £12-15m?

On the flipside, if Downing does go to spurs. Whats your views on O'Hara? He's an aggressive little tchite but would be cheapish being 2nd choice winger maybe even available on loan.

Pompey have about £40m to play with now, I could see a bid from them.

Because he's a Boro fan and a loyal player. He handed in his transfer request because he was promised that the squad would've been improved over the summer and it wasnt, and they're a mediocre team again.

Dont blame him for moving......but I do blame him for what club he goes to. Im mean, minus the fact Spurs will double his wages...they're [Poor language removed] and have been for years - the leagues most under-achieveing side. Its Harry Wobbly Head who, for some reason, has players creaming over him where ever he goes.

I always thought Downing was average.
Couldn't agree more mate. If we gave Baines and 6 million for Downing I would be absolutely gutted. In fact Downing plus 6 million for Baines would be nearer to my take on the true value. Downing should go to Spurs or if he wants to stay nearer to home, the barcodes. A match made in (over-hyped) heaven.

He's just a solid winger, nothing special about him but certainly capable. He knows his limits and his game is basically about getting crosses into the box.

We can do better than him, we also need more pace which he wouldn't offer. He's not slow but he's not a pigeon catcher. We need a pace merchant.

He's alright, think Stephen Hunt (plays defense) might be a little better though. Buying another LW would be a luxury though, we don't need either.

Spurs are going to buy him and he won't be cheap, I'm guessing he'll go for at least 10M. I don't know why they want him so bad given that they have Bale unless they want him at striker in a 4-3-3.
