Dullest Premier League season ever?

I don't buy all the conspiracy theories, the money distribution is what controls the league.
Refs do seem poorer but just to notice, a lot of teams that lose invariably blame the ref. I think Var has taken a lot of common sense away from the game.
Yes,very boring and it will get worse as realistically it's getting geared to be a top 3 not a big 6 anymore.

Scrapping VAR would improve things quickly, but that probably won't happen since all the top competitions use VAR and have done for a while. If you scrap VAR, you might still end up with some mistakes but also won't have to worry about four minute checks on goals and the complete nonsense around "clear and obvious errors".

I only really watch Everton games for the past few seasons. Haven't watched any Champions league games for a good few years now. Watched the first half of todays game and then cooked tea.

For me Money and how its distributed has destroyed the game.

I prefer watching NFL these days.
I prefer watching the Aussie (and NZ) A league games, decent standard, refs are better, var is better, crowds are small and stadia shife but apart from everton, the PL is a crap watch

I agree with all of that, but I don't think the referee standard has fallen as much as it is players have increased the amount of cheating, making it practically impossible to referee a game properly.

Every time a defender is near a player he holds his shirt, dropping like Mike Tyson has decked you every time someone touches you, claiming every throw in no matter how ridiculous, arms around players at every corner, goalies holding onto the ball for 20 seconds etc etc etc.

How is a ref meant to do his job properly when we can't go more than 30 seconds without someone cheating?

The PL is a truly terrible league and has been for a number of years. This is just the worst one yet. Its boring and tedious. The elites are protected and the drawbridge has been pulled up to stop anyone from even attempting to combat them. The sport is a horrible twisted reflection of the game that existed prior to the PL ruining it.

The A league (amongst other leagues) has implemented that any VAR decisions have to be announced to the crowd.
I still think the discussion should be telecast, but at least it's something.

I've noticed since today the 'viewing' of a load of Murder Inc supporters on this thread and on the Liverpool thread responding to posts. They can be detected with their '£25,000 player evaluation'.

No doubt they're registering to bombard the forum with their tripe over the next few weeks now that they know the bogey man wont be taking the title off them.

Great shout. Players learning to weaponise the rules is a big problem in a lot of sports. Been happening in pro basketball for decades (though less blatant than it used to be) and now it’s happening in the NFL too. These quarterbacks know how to draw pass interference/holding flags and work in the negative space of the personal foul and unnecessary roughness rules.

Yes, absolutely. Been such a big bag of nothing of a season hasn't it? No redeeming quality about it whatsoever. Forest will, invariably, end up being a flash in the pan so even that hasn't been particularly interesting..
Just to think, one crazy, lunatic pundit, I can't remember who it was, but I think he was on talksport actually tipped Forest to win the league 😂😂😂. Another one getting money for old rope.

If the RS didn't have the best player in the world they would be a very average side probably challenging for the top 4-5.

50 goal involvements in 26 games for Salah is absolutely insane and he's supposed to be past his prime at this age. Can only hope he walks in the summer for free.

More scripted than WWE under masters, with the manipulation of VAR and the awful
Refs, giving the scabs everything, every match. The league is a joke. Airlift for the RS that they didn’t need.

The top end has been dire, snore inducing stuff.

City imploding and Forest going well made things interesting for a bit.

Hopefully we’re out of any danger now, midtable boredom sounds delightful after the last few years we’ve had.

Surely he wouldn’t script the league being done with 12 games to go?

It's how I see it.

Chelsea can spend a Billion, United are up to their eyeballs in Debt, but can seemingly spend and spend and spend, whereas sides like Everton - actually no - we are a terrible example.

Sides like Villa & Newcastle come with a threat of upsetting the applecart, do so, then have to asset strip their players due to restrictions on Spending.

It's almost Anti-Competitive. Newcastle are owned by one of the richest Nations in the Land, but can't spend a penny, and build on a CL campaign. Aston Villa qualified for CL, and had to sell Douglas Luiz & Jhon Duran just to avoid any a penalty.

Whilst the league table doesn't reflect the revenue, it's not surprise that many can't compete with Man City. Even Liverpool are a Mo Salah move away from not competing.

It's very, very hard to enjoy the Premier League, and that's not sour grapes, it's just predictable. The thing which made English Football great was it's unpredictability, anyone could beat anyone on their day... nowadays you can almost predict that Liverpool/Manchester City 1-2, Arsenal 3, bottom 3 to be at least 2 promoted sides.
