Hard to believe how utterly appalling he was earlier in the season. Has been exceptional since dishy dyche took over

Always felt he needed an outball/focal point of attack. That's Calvert-Lewin.

Give him a target. Get some pace and runners around him and he could be decent.

Think some are being very hard on the lad.

He's 22.

Retains the ball well and we're asking him to take one for the team.

I can see why he was in the top 1% of attacking midfielders in the league for interceptions and blocks.

Don't set your opinion too firmly on him yet, especially when we have no outball for him.

Signed for his ability to press in the final third and cross the ball.

We then give him Anthony Gordon who would duck when challenging for a header and Neal Maupay as the head to aim for.

We give the role of high press to Gana.

That might be the single best performance I've seen from an Everton player in the last decade. Defensively brilliant, involved in every transition, two goals, two assists... his second goal was just something else. 96th minute of a game we'd already won, where he'd already covered every blade of grass twice, and he still has the energy to sprint the full length of the pitch and hit a blammo into the top corner.

His first goal last night took me back to being in the school playground, when somebody would dribble around everyone before falling to their knees and heading the ball into an empty goal. The only thing he missed was falling to his knees and heading the ball over the line.

Seriously though, that really was a great performance from the lad, he's some striker of a football.

I could see it when he first broke into the Burnley side a few years ago , the lad is talented.
Lost his way earlier this season probably due to the way the team was set up.
Been excellent since Dyche came in and defined his role.

Fair play mate.

I saw him have good games for Burnley, but his form also fell off a clliff their, he always had good technical ability, if not a bit predictable on the one foot - which makes it easier for defenders to funnel if hes facing play or teams have set up - that carried on here up to Dyche coming in. What i didnt factor in and what set him apart in my opinion, is what set Richarlison apart also, hes fighter and he has a strong mentality, hes brave on the ball and is excellent coming inside and Dyche has him doing this a lot more and has vision and finishing - that covers a lot of sins for us. His work rate is incredible and a real balance to his game. You forget how young he is.
