Yep - Thelwell did this during the January transfer window

Trying to recreate Barkley I see.

How many assists come from open play?? Not many id guess. And find it mad people going on about McNeil in the 10 role, yes he can run with the ball, and has a decent left foot, he doesn’t score a lot from distance and being so one footed means, he will go left when running and every pass will go right, you’re basically losing half the pitch before you kick off, he also doesn’t have good touch around the box, not good enough to be a 10 imo

I think if the choice is Doucoure who scores goals and runs around alot...but most moves finish and end with him.

Or McNeil who also has a good engine and may be better suited to creating for others in the role and banging 20-30 yarders.

Its fair to say McNeil would be the most 'progressive' player.

I like Dwight and would like to see him play no. 10.

However I think the big chances stats are probably skewed by set pieces. I know it's tomato tomato but as its a huge part of our game, bound to get a lot of (big) chances from it.

I would have said Kilbane had more pace but less football nous than McNeill.
McNeill lacks the yard of pace that would put him in the very top player bracket imo.
Still great value for 15m.
Kilbane definitely lacked a yard of pace but had quick feet and good dribbling skills.
McNeill lacks pace but makes up for it with skill and I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

When gravesen used to pass it 10 yards infront of killer for him to run onto his pace was fine. If he was stood still and tried to knock it past a player and run then he had no chance ! He was a bit like a fully loaded truck pulling off when you’re behind them at traffic lights !

Killer was really good in air too, almost all our goal kicks were aimed to him. See the comparisons, both good honest pros with good engines to help out their fullbacks, both lack a bit of pace. Think McNeil is the better footballer tho.
