2024/25 Dwight McNeil

Lindstrom? The guy can barely trap the ball. Hope he gets better but he’s a long ways off it, doesn’t matter where he plays.

Been thrown on twice for a few minutes when the teams already fallen apart and the opponent is surging all over us, both times way out of position for him too.

And we wonder why he struggles, for what it's worth the first game we saw Ndiaye get minutes in v spurs he looked woeful getting played out of position when the team had already imploded.

I'll admit he looks way off the pace ATM, but that's magnified by throwing him on when the opponents are all over us.

Should start our next cup game then our next league game at home. At the number ten spot.

One assist from open play like. And not gonna count a goal against Donny rovers as evidence - same as I'm not gonna be going on about Beto should be playing CF based on two v them.

Not convinced by him as a number 10 either mate, yeah his production will improve statistically (due to were he's recieving it) but his overall play still looks like typical Dwight.

Question is - should he be playing that role above others - Ndiaye, Lindstrom etc.

“Not gonna count, not gonna count” I’ll be honest mate didn’t read after this. It isn’t how you approach discussions.

tbf to him, he put both balls through to DCL for the one on ones.

I've made no secret that I think he's a severely limited footballer. But he's miles better behind DCL than on the left. He still drifts out into wide areas but he definitely has more about him when he's more central.

Is he the best 10 we have? I don't know as I doubt we'll get to see Lindstrom or Ndiaye there for a prolonged period. But, if he's scoring and assisting (which he has done the last couple of games) then the shirt is in his possession and rightly so.

Also the ball in from the left in the second half which DCL tried to slide in on was from McNeil too

Yep and the best ball he put in was 1st half where a defender just managed to get in front of DCL. He whipped it in with urgency and conviction.

So he got himself into some decent pockets, still managed to get a couple of crosses in and looked a threat.

Joe Thomas had a very weird report when he was doing the match ratings and it was about Ndiaye when he said -

A box of tricks but how does a Dyche side keep its discipline with him, especially in tough encounters like this away from home.

I'm sorry like but I didn't see him dawdling, got back defensively quicker than most and stuck to his task well. It's that kind of comment where I thought someone's had a word with him so he can plant the seeds of getting Mcneil back to the left wing and Doucoure behind the striker again.

It proper wound me up as it was a needless comment, as if we've played this maverick, cavalier football and Ndiaye has been at fault.

“We’ve not had much to say in the dressing room” admits Dwight after the back to back defeats.

Think that’s a big part of the problem lad, you should be talking about what’s going wrong and ripping strips off each other, thrashing it out and then working together to resolve.

If the squad ain’t talking how can they sort it?

You think a squad with the likes of Pickford, Coleman, Tarkowski, Young etc in it aren't talking it through or thrashing it out.

Plenty of experience and leadership in there. Leadership isn't always just yelling and thumping your chest.

Sounds like they are sulking mate, which fits them, a lot of cowards in there as well.

They don’t even have to scream and shout, but they should be talking, doesn’t seem they are according to McNeil.

This would be a crazy comment at any time, but it’s 2 weeks since he got subbed off and we suddenly conceded 3 goals in 5 minutes.
