They’d had a spanking coming their way for ages and had ridden their luck. Just took the best player in the world to do it. Maybe they’ll show a bit Norte humility next time they’re playing Barcelona or Real Madrid rather than bragging about how they’re going to batter them by 3 or 4 on their own pitch.

It’s funny that when Liverpool miss chances against Barca the narrative is that Liverpool dominated but weren’t clinical, yet when Spurs missed an absolute bucketload against them and then the keeper throws it into the net it was all about rampant reds crushing all before them on the way to the title.

They’re not the best team in England and they’re not the best in Europe. The fact they’re even near either trophy is testament to how much ridiculous fortune they get.
