ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Liverpool have always been a side that rely on momentum, so this rest period could seriously damage their chances.

The players will also feel demoralised and isolated because Austin won’t be able to provide them with his post match bear hugs in front of the cameras.

They've seen the big one denied them. The CL is a big trophy to win, but nowhere near as important as the PL trophy. To be champions of your own country (in a major league like this) always trumps it. Losing out to City will give them a tough time refocusing.

I've lived in the city my entire life, so I think I do.

I don't want them to win anything, but singing for other teams is just embarrassing. Especially from a club who do absolutely nothing of any note.
Remember that blue coffin they had mate when it looked like we were doomed.

The horror name they give our City with their appalling behaviour, they are horrible.

Cos its a deep rooted trait of football fans the world over. Sure, you want your team to win everything going, but a close second is seeing your nearest rival beat/humiliated. Be that Boca Juniors, Real Madrid, or Dundee.
Yes, you'd want them to fail, but my point is singing for Tottenham, as we're playing Tottenham, is embarrassing.

Swear some of our fans care more about Liverpool than they do about Everton.

And we're not meant to care what they say, as the song goes.

But no, they'd never be against us in their own ground...

Let's have it right: they had 10-15 points handed to them by refs pointing to the penalty spot when there was clearly no contact or minimal contact (to put it mildly); they had the league schedule of matches served up to them to make their workload spread evenly over the season while City were hurried into doubling up on games; they had every single pundit in the country barring a handful trying to create the atmosphere in the industry that only a Liverpool title win would be a good outcome for the game; they sacrificed the two dometic cups to maximize their league campaign energy......

AND THEY STILL 'KIN LOST.

Spot on.

It's been utterly nauseating.

Even today the BBC lead with the headline, Liverpool can create history. Even though City have a chance to complete a domestic treble.

They did create history.
97 points and no trophy.

I try to not to bite at their goading personally, I just can’t be bothered with them these days most of the time due to the sheer level of obnoxiousness/arrogance. In some ways they have the right attitude in the sense they wouldn’t of tolerated half the stuff we have but on the other hand there is a real lack of humbleness drenched in a sort of snidey stench , think the James Pearce of the Echo type or the overweight slug who calls us “bitters” or “mongrels” the typical soulless jump on the bandwagon type.

Don’t get me wrong , we have a few horrible condescending blerts too, there’s a couple on this forum who get a kick out of trolling our own fans constantly but from experience they are on another level. I’ll admit today left me feeling a little unsure, on the one hand I get it, local rivals, banter, hatred etc etc and on the other seeing our fans enjoying themselves with the city flags , blue moon etc couldn’t help feel a little sad it’s yet another end of the season of us doing nothing of significance like a cup or title.

Every media stream wanted that lot to win it, absolutely made up for city, it’s been like that pretty much all season, not to forget all the hype around xmas time. There’s been a lot of talk about footballing comebacks this week, now that’s what you call a comeback from city.
