Was initially ours Roydo,but as you say more universal these days, however when we do sing it(not that often granted nowadays)it really does make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up

Gotcha. My embryonic days as a match going football fan was on the terraces of Ashton Gate, not Goodison. And they sang a version of it. Not often, nor with any real conviction, but sang it nevertheless.

I have heard folk interviewed on Talksport and 5Live today from all over the planet turning up in Madrid.

Yeah being an English club and getting to a champions league final will do that, especially if you're the favourite to win and facing somebody less popular to the average casual. It's like a magnet for glory hunters all over the world.

They were so well placed to go global when the PL took off, and they have milked it. The reality of their "success" versus global support is testament to that. Sucks, but not much you can do about it.
