It’s been mentioned here already but worth repeating; their weird need for everyone to like them is utterly baffling.
Football is about Rivalry. United don’t support City in finals. Spurs don’t want Arsenal to do well. Hell, we’ve all got random teams that we can’t stand for no real reason (Villa for me). But with them, whenever anyone goes against them, or indulges in a bit of schadenfreude when they balls it up, it’s “bitter”. That’s the only response they seem to have to other teams laughing at them.
They seem to have this weird notion that they should be everyone’s second team, and we should all recognise them as some incredible footballing ideal.
That attitude is precisely why they are lots of other supporters ‘Villa’ - a team they specifically look for every week hoping they lost.
