Sell your best player whilst insisting a clause is inserted which to every intent and purpose is an open admittance you need said clause because any of your players that Barca want will push for a move straight away without that clause.

Strange behaviour from any team never mind one which portrays itself as the best and most desirable to play for in the world ..

I have no idea how that clause even works. What is a "market value"? Who decides that? Like Barca are going to bid and have accepted say £110 million for Salah and check the small print and go "oh god yea, it will be £210 million now" and still go ahead with it. A stupid manoeuvre who's sole purpose would appear to be to create theatre to placate the lunatic fringe of their own fan base.

It would be the sort of thing May would stick on the Brexit negotiation. Utterly pointless and virtue signalling I think they call it.
