They have zero chance of winning the CL and we need them to be involved in competitions other than the PL. If they get a free hand to just play in all seriousness on one front, it's a BIG advantage.

Best-case scenario is they finish third, have to play Thursdays and Sundays, get to the Europa semifinal stage and get thumped by the first decent team they play. That'll drain any title challenge sharpish.
