ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Just go back to the old format of actual champions playing in the European Cup and a UEFA Cup with best RU in their national leagues...each played on a KO basis from the off.

For me, that's the only way to keep any integrity and interest in European football.

An over the hill Madrid team dominated until recently in the CL (and a pony Liverpool and Spurs PL spat was last season's 'spectacle'; and no one even cares or remembers who wins the EL.
Then you get less good teams and it essentially becomes like the Carling cup with city and Barca winning it every season.

Can't see how they can improve the current format you get premium ties pretty much every week.

Ye great.
Someone flukes a win against Barca in the first round and the viewing figures take a dive.

That's the reason the world club cup is such a poor tournament

The world cup’s brilliant...the best football event to watch by a mile.

These CL games are irrelevant hence why no ones arsed about watching it any more.

I probably won’t even watch PSG v Real tonight cause in reality it’s a glorified friendly at the moment and the result will have very little impact overall on the tournament.

In reality the seedings mean virtually all the teams from the big leagues should get through, even Leicester made the QF. Then if you get a bad draw we come down to 2 or 3 difficult games at worst on a 2 leg basis to make the final. That’s then played weeks after the season has finished when all match fitness has gone and no ones particularly bothered watching football any more.

Judging by last seasons final I think even the players have lost the will to play the standard was that bad.

The tournaments gone, it’s boring and it’ll be shaken up again soon.

They won’t want rubbish like a Liverpool and Spurs, teams who haven’t won there own league for something like 80 years combined playing the dire football the did last season again.

The last world cup was fantastic, i couldn't care less how england do but i was still more entertained by it than anything club football has produced

Yeah, it feels like it's all been "improved" doesn't it?

As a spectacle, it's a disaster mate. Mega bucks corprations like the format and no one else. It's purely a commercial circus.

If they want the Champions league of Europe then do that. This league system with all the odds and sods of Europe thrown in is a calamity.
