ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I think we need to look at the bigger picture here. This is a societal issue. The scenes last night were disgusting but let's not kid ourselves that this is restricted to Liverpool as a geographical location or the RS.

This Country has an issue with selfish people, who consume vast amounts of alcohol and drugs especially at the weekend and cause absolute havoc right across the Country.

Go to any A&E at the weekend and you will see the same thing. Hordes of inebriated individuals, high on legal and illegal drugs abusing the very people who are trying to help them. A decade of austerity and politicians encouraging selfishness has meant the Police have completely lost control of the streets.

Look at the Met Police looking to engage with people attending illegal street parties. The terrifying thing is that with the double whammy of COVID and Brexit things are likely to get much worse.

As I said the scenes last night were disgusting but sadly they are not isolated. As a nation we need to start getting our priorities right before it is too late.

Oh and here it comes.

Red Alert.

Thats what it is,if he was doing his job then most of the stuff involving that shower wouldnt have happened, how difficult is it to predict given their previous form?

said it earlier to Someone did you know they’d kick off because I did so why is a surprise to the police . I walked passed loads of them in town smashing the Lemo in the afternoon and queuing for ale outside the supermarkets. You didn’t have to be Hercule poirot to figure out how things would go but to mr Cooke , a complete surprise .

Exactly. Anderson, for all his faults ideologically, has been colossal in all this. That head copper has acted like a big soft lad who cant contain himself. How on earth did a spanner like that get to the top of any large organisation?

Policing in this Country has always been by consent. Sadly the slashing of Police budgets means the Police are no longer in charge of the streets. We are facing a crisis of all public services.

Completely does my head in the way that lot conflate LFC with "the city".

They are a footy club synonymous with death, riot and and misery - not a city.

FFS, they wouldn't even be here if we hadn't shat them out.

Me too. And I havnt lived anywhere near it for decades. Mrs R, shortly after we met, and who has zero interest in football, was relieved when she asked who I supported, "being from Liverpool I assume you must like football" that I was an Evertonian.

GO TO ANY A&E FFF OFF.Not on a lockdown you wouldn't.

One of the biggest reasons for their disgusting behaviour is that a massive number of them legitimately don't know how to behave as a football fan or what it even means. They've never (or hardly ever beyond maybe a stadium tour or a one off game) set foot in a football ground in their lives, they've never traveled the country following their team. They've never done much more then buy the latest shirt, get a flag to hang in the window prior to a big game and very occasionally go the pub to watch a cup final. They don't know any match going reds to talk with and the only the reds they ever do chat to on social media are exactly like them. This is why they buy into all the silly slogans and catchphrases, its why the act so stupid, they think its the norm because other idiots who also don't have a clue told them so. They think that acting like an escaped patient from a mental institution is the same as being passionate because they don't have a clue how real passion from real football fans works.

Genuinely never thought of it like that, brilliant post.
