ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Are you for real? They're top of the league by a record number of points but the world is crumbling around them? The other day you were saying their title win was written by Evertonian gods.

I wish I could have some more of what you're on because you are seeing a bed of roses rather than a steaming pile of poo!

They're?Don't you mean we're?Well done on the win.Ye have a decent team. It's a pity, the same can't be said, about your coke sniffing from a police mans hat/setting fire to the Liver building arsonist fans.:)

Yeah those families have been strong and dignified throughout, bit theres people around that club, both fans and part of the business that have been anything but, that have used that terrible event to profit or further themselves, knowing there will be very little dissent due to the sensitivity of it all

I've noticed how that crass approach, the disrespectful tone, has crept into the everyday conversations with r/s supporters. It is treated as a get out of jail card.
Growing up I believed the scale of Man Utds support was correlated to Munich, the sympathy vote sort of, and I've had that conversation with utd fans down the years, who agreed with the gist, and didn't get arsey over the point.
Imagine even making that point to one of the r/s now? It isn't a morbid accusation imho, it's not that it's a bad thing but, like the premier league, their existence in 'social' history starts at 1989.
This dilutes their 'scouseness' which they over compensate for, it shields their behaviours and activities, but because of a lack of sensibilities from 'outsiders' dilutes the actual 'political' sense of a terrible tragedy, allowing it to be abused this way, it de-sensitises it for all except those closest to the core event. So sad.

Here we go, more moaning. First it was winter breaks and now hes complaining he doesn't like the medal rule.

Absolute thunder helmet
it undermines the winning of a medal if no mark squad players who will soon be playing for Stockport can get one by cramming in dead rubber games at the end of the season. Shampions 2019/20*

I happen to agree with you, I doubt anybody will be too bothered about being hammered by City 4-0. I mean it's clear they weren't on the ale all week, and Klopp went with his strongest 11 and was fuming he lost, but in the grand scheme of things it means very little to them. Every team loses a game. It may well act as a bit of a catalyst for Liverpool and a wake up call that they are not quite as good as they think they are, which in all honesty would be no bad thing for Klopp

I think it's a big benefit to City though. They have shown, even at a difficult time, with eyes on other prizes, several key players injured, if they play to their best they are levels ahead of Liverpool. Too many injuries to key players have cost them this season, though the return of Laporte is massive. Him and VVD are the best 2 defenders in the league by some distance. For their confidence though, it's a massive boost. It's a real marker before next season. A lot may depend on how fit they can keep KDB.

While the specific of that game is not a worry, the wider financials will be. Even in a best case scenario, that we start getting some fans back in autumn, for a full return by the start of 2021, enormous damage will have been done for Liverpool. The very lucrative pre-season games won't even be going ahead, and may not return in kind again for a little while. They are looking at a loss of revenue of 100+m and possibly even more than that. We know most of their top end seats tend to be bought from those flying in, or businesses. Both will be massively reduced. This will not just be a Liverpool problem, but given most of their squad have long term contracts on big wages, they will be one of the most exposed.

They start next season as big favourites, but much after that they begin to struggle. Their front 3 are beginning to slow down a bit and they don't have the money to reinvest. They also lack the sort of owners required to put their hand in their pockets to get them out of this.
