ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Webster teamed up with the Premier League and Sky Sports to capture the emotions of a 30-year wait coming to an end, with his lyrics guiding us through the streets of Liverpool, by notable landmarks, murals and shop fronts before highlights of this title-winning season and those gone by flash before our eyes.

Emotive would be the word for what the video evokes, with the lyrics “My city, my people, my heart” particularly poignant.

My city, my people, my heart.

Burning the Liver Building down and spreading Covid19.

Feel the civic spirit.

It is genuinely toe curling, some lad I know was posting how 'nobody but Liverpool fans would understand what this meant to them'. I feel for the lads kids (among others), I reckon watching bow legged Hendo lifting that trophy* in front of an empty stadium is the best moment of his life. Odd.

Their heightened sense of self-importance is proper sickening like

Liverpool have released a statement after nine people were arrested as fans gathered outside Anfield following the club's trophy-lifting final home game.

Police issued a dispersal order to clear about 3,000 fans from Anfield.

"Liverpool Football Club would like to thank those supporters who stayed at home to celebrate the team lifting the trophy last night, protecting their loved ones and our city from the ever-present threat of this pandemic," read the statement.

"We are, however, disappointed with the scenes outside Anfield last night and that more supporters did not heed the celebrate at home advice.

"As we have said before, when it is safe to do so we will celebrate, until then protecting our city is the priority."

Wow, didn't see that coming....

I hope that the Chief Constable will answer peoples legitimate criticisms over the crowds at Anfield last night. This Dispersal Zone chocolate fireguard should surely have been in place first thing yesterday rather than at 9.30pm when the hordes were already well thronged in situ. Apart from the very serious threat of the virus being spread, the ubiquitous RS incendiary flares were present which surely also compromised public safety ? Getting to be a habit innit....

Do you think LFC could have stopped that ch league game.?
Think about it. Yes. Easily. By having social and community responsibility. But £ signs and the anticipation of an Anfield night would make you too arrogant to consider human life and the impact on the city residents. Games were cancelled the following day from memory. But it’s not your fault.

The pier head get together was prompted all day by the LIVERPOOL SUPPORTERS on social media. But it’s not your fault.

I have the documents. - don’t know what this means but show us what documents you have please. I’ve no idea what it will prove but show us anyway. No doubt whatever they it will completely exonerate you from whatever it is you have been accused of. So it won’t be your fault.
booze and let out after severe lockdown should - you’re right, you should not be allowed any alcohol when Liverpool play as you can’t be trusted. But it’s not your fault - have been anticipated by the police
and sorted. - it was anticipated by the mayor as we ALL know what happens. Instead of addressing the concerns you all got offended as usual about anything slightly negative about your supporters and club and demanded a retraction. Well look what happened then and last night and you won’t have the decency to admit he was right all along as you have the most narcissistic fanbase who demand everyone’s attention and have an abnormal desire to be loved, and will not entertain anything other than the [Poor language removed] that comes out your mouths. You’ve been brainwashed by the cult and You can’t tell people in a cult that they’re In a cult - they can’t compute it. But it’s not your fault.

this is brilliant.... and equally ridiculous.

RS never accepting blame for a couple of recent events rolled up in one post.

I’ve tried to correct him a little.

They're only sorry that the club shop wasn't open during the celebrations.

Exactly my take on it.

Never ever forget the 96, but bandying it about as a cheap catchphrase every chance you get is hugely disrespectful to those affected and their fight tbh
As I say, I’m happy to slag anyone and everyone who argues and point scores on twitter. Whatever their chosen stance, target or field.

but, the “bandying of it about” was entirely necessary for years and years while nothing was being done by authorities. I wore a JFT96 sticker on my jacket happily whenever I was offered one, many years before justice was even considered likely, and was proud to.

Edit: my point I guess is there’s plenty of other things to go after them for. I’d rather we leave Hillsborough out of it.
