ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Seriously? Blimey.

Yep - there is exemption for elite sportsperson people. If Mane was working in my office & tested positive, we would all be going into isolation, but this doesn't apply to elite sports. At the other end Mane can leave his personal isolation, if he has two negative tests, irrespective of days (ie 14 not mandatory if two neg tests)

That said, my office isn't getting tested 3+ times a week and I assume in the current climate at liverpool probably daily. I suspect, the next few weeks will see Footballers dropping like flies & a suspension to the league feels inevitable.

We were just discussing. If Liverpool lost 8-10 players to Corona next week. Would they try for getting the match postponed??

Precident currently is they forfeit ala Leyton Orient.

However because liverpool we all know what will happen!

No - the PL has agreed (All clubs) if you have 13 or more if your 25 fit to play game will go ahead & if a venue is not available due to lockdown, game goes ahead at a neutral venue.

Leyton Orient was a different case, my understanding is it was not that they couldn't fulfill fixture, it was that the ground was off limits due to outbreak.

My concern is, and has been for a few weeks, the South American players coming back with no quarantine. I just hope the covid protocols are robust over there.

Couldn't agree more - not necessarily the SA players, but if you take the European leagues. Three fixtures in 6 days in three different countries for many; it is a recipe for disaster. Obviously, they will all be tested on return, but it is clear that there is often a lag between infection and a positive test, which is realistically what probably happen to Shaqiri

Yes. We will be kicked out of the league. The RS will be awarded a trophy and 12 extra points for being so brave , a golden pass to the FA Cup Final and a lifetime supply of gold plated Asthma Inhalers.

Whole season will get called off and another title will be handed to the current champions, in the interest of fairness.

Which is how it should be. If you have 13 pro's who are fit, you can fulfil the fixture. If not, at this stage it will be a forfeit. I find it highly doubtful, given Liverpool have have 80 ish pro's on the books that they cannot fulfil the fixture. They may not want too, but thats a different story.

I don't think there is an exemption. If you are tested positive for Covid you need to isolate.

I also think, righty or wrongly they will be very loathed to canel the league. They had the chance to do the right thing in the summer, and ignored the advice. That ship has sailed and we saw with Leyton Orient basically being punished for it, that forfeits and lost games will come into play. It feels wrong, but consistency is the key now.
