My take is this the main reason theyre in uproar over vvd is that he is an important part of the way they play. They havent any cb whos as good as him when they push up and attack leaving him and not many others to deal with a counter attack they wont be as confident being left with matip or gomez in a 1on1. No bigman heading corners away etc. They should have spent the money on another decent cb instead of saving up for bigstand 2. No allison or vvd leaves them very vulnerable to conceed and they know it.

There done without him, Pickford has eliminated our main title rival.

He’s crucial to the way they attack as well, the cross field balls out to the full backs are pinpoint from him. Once he went off none of their other centrebacks played that ball all game.

so the corrupt system was OK when they were benefitting from it, I wonder if their assault on the FA's power has meant that the authorities aren't quite as in love with them as they were...

If Mane picks up an injury I can see them really struggling. Salah is more of an opportunist whereas Mane gets involved in general play. They already have a quandary at LB as Robertson will get exposed without his protector behind him.
