ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

You look at the way Fulham played against us in the second half compared to the way Fulham played against Liverpool and you do wonder whether it is because Everton were just terrible or whether it’s a psychological thing when a side plays Liverpool
As said before, teams play better against us because they think they can win. Not so vs the RS.

They seem to get stuck in certain away games. Last season was probably the one, for 12 months they found an answer to it, but outside of that they've always got a bit stuck. They miss VVD at the back I think. Sides can hit balls behind them and turn them round over and over, which really halts their momentum.

Klopp's comments seem bizarre after the game to me. A side who are 18th with 1 win and 7 points from 11 are not going to look to play free flowing football against you. His defence is absolutely wide open for balls into space behind as well. Arnold goes missing positionally and the two cb's are really slow. Turning them round is the strategy you'd employ.

I do think he's just highlighting how to play them for teams away from home now. Fans for opponents will help too, the roar of encouragement they can get. Another injury for Matip as well, after he naively keeps picking him game after game, when we all know he can't stand up to that level of exposure.
A huge problem for them is that the great TAA simply cannot defend whatsoever, the first 20 mins of that game yesterday Fulham got in behind him about 3 or 4 times and it was far too easy. Someone posted a stat yesterday that was in 18 games lost he has played in 17 of them. A very good player going forward but his positioning and general defending are Sidibe like levels.

Good shout.

I wanted us to exploit it more in the derby - tbf DCL’s goal was created that side - but I think there was more on offer with Richie and Digne.

Yes I'd agree with all of that. I'm surprised how bad he is defensively from a positional standpoint. No idea what's going on around or behind him. Fantastic going the other way, but no idea defensively. I think it's partly why Klopp pulled him.

For a long time the defence was the old "anyone would look terrible next to VVD" or "sides attack more down the right" type of excuses. Whats been shown up is that Van Dijk got him, and most of their other defenders out of trouble an awful lot, and without him they are quite ordinary.

Lookman had him on toast yesterday, and that crossfield ball was always on.

Feel its important for Spurs' mentality if they win at Anfield...they always seem to bottle pressure games...the rest of the league need to see Liverpool suffering defeats, they need to recognise they're weakened this season (just look at the farcical performances of wolves and leicester against them)....a few defeats for liverpool and you'd really see Klopps nasty side, and that could cause problems inside the liverpool camp

such a boring old narrative. Did they bottle the recent games against Man City, Chelsea or Arsenal? Not too long ago they beat Man City over 2 legs without their best player and then went on to win the semi Final without their second best player after going 3 goals down. The fact that they haven’t won anything for however long is not really anything to do with “bottling” but more likely the fact that they’ve been beaten by better and far wealthier teams.

Big leg up coming Liverpool's way when London go into Tier 3.

How on earth this season can be seen as anything other than bent as a none bob note I dont know.

exactly, how can you allow fans to some stadiums but not others. The palace fans were brilliant yesterday in the game against spurs, they will now be missing when the RS go there next week.
