ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I honestly thought with some of the commentary for the Alisson goal that it was a Premier League / Champions League winner rolled into one. I get the personal story behind it and I extend sincere sympathy to anyone, him included of course, who has lost a close relative and been unable to travel to be with them. That's cruel and that hurts.

But for me it summed up in a moment why the Super League can never work.

The whole premise in the first place of extending Champions League qualification to the Top 4 teams was there was going to be something for everybody. This created a moment for that player and the fans. If they are automatically qualified as a shut-out, then these moments, as relatively embarrassing celebrating a 4th place finish is for them, disappear. The only joy would be in winning it, and your chances are limited.

Night after night I'm hearing pundits going on about Liverpool getting 4th or not. They look at all the fixture and, talk about how it might all finish.
You'd think it was about who was going to win the League.

No, it's about who is going to qualify to play in the group stages of the CL, not win it, not even get to the last 16.

It isn't that important.

It isn't you are right.
However, it allows the media to deflect from what has been an extremely poor season for them both on and off the pitch. One of the worst title defences for many a year will be airbrushed from history (nothing new there) and it will be portrayed as an 'achievement' to be admired and celebrated. If they do it, it will get more media coverage than either City or Chelsea winning the CL by some distance. They control the media and they are very good at it.

The CL is designed for any decent team to be airlifted to the quarter finals most years. When they’re a few games from number 7 again and have fans back in the stadium then we can remember how these few games when they by or fourth thanks to questionable refereeing and ridiculous luck didn’t matter.

This is highly irregular. Is the evidence to support this claim?

@PaulPowersTash you can't let this lad bismirch your good name like this?

Shocked some folks still doubt the angry orange, has he ever been wrong about anything, ever?

Yeah, just the small matter of me having predicted...

...THE UTTER IMPLOSION OF LIVERPOOL THIS SEASON AT A POINT WHEN THEY WERE STILL TOP OF THE LEAGUE WHEN YOU LOT WERE HIDING BEHIND THE COUCH SHAKING LIKE DEFECATING DOGS AND DESCRIBING THEIR USLESS TAT AS "WORLD CLASS"

What do I know?

I think thats a great point really. A league without any (or any serious) relegation with no top 4, top 6, top 7 drama would be really dull. I mean how many title races have there been in the last 5-6 years that have gone to the final game? I can think of 1.

Essentially if you're not winning the league, you're playing for nothing. We have 2 games of playing for nothing now, and in honesty it's just not the same. It's really dull. I know people involved probably feel sick, but thats what makes the league interesting. The Leicester/Chelsea game meant something, and so does their game tonight at Burnley, and they all 3 will be involved on the final day. Great drama.

The toe has been dipped into the water.

Only a matter of time before the scab 6 try to fundamentally alter the Premier league ( to benefit themselves).

Sky sports and all of the media will back them.

Sky's ideal scenario is the Top 6 qualify for the UCL and they regain rights. I honestly wouldn't put it past UEFA if it keeps the top clubs happy.

One of the so-called "big six" wouldn't have a leg to stand on if they still couldn't qualify under those conditions. I mean, fair is fair.

We'll have missed the boat even then.

How do you eat eggs so repulsively that your partner leaves you? Asking for a friend.
