Same cycle all the time before Southgate got involved, Liverpool players dodging qualifiers and friendlies for two years then just before the tournament they crank their propaganda machine up to make sure they all get selected. Had Henderson and Alexander Arnold been for this summer the media would have been baying for them to be in the first team until Southgate caved just as they did when it looked like neither would make the squad, he ended up taking both even though Henderson wasn’t even fit.
