ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

They are due a dud signing sooner or later, hopefully this guy

Remember when Klopp sad he would quit football before spending £50m+ on a player

One thing about Mane and Salah is they’ve been practically indestructible for five years, barely missed any crucial games. At some point they’ll buy someone who doesn’t play every single game every season.

Says a lot though that they spent 50 mill on Jota and within two seasons he’s effectively being replaced as the first choice striker. Perhaps he wasn’t such a good buy as all the media made out at the time.

Jota has been a poor addition overall. His stats for shots on target v shots off target are telling for me:

Jota 32/38
Salah 55/41
Mane 37/27

(compare Firmino figures for last season when he was a regular as part of that trio: 32/23)

That was probably the difference between Liverpool winning major trophies rather than the two lightweight ones in elite club terms.

They just bought Nunez: his figures for last season: 42/26. That's for a less competitive league, but you can see what Klopp's trying to achieve....only problem is they're running to stand still if they then lose Mane and have a Salah in limbo with his contract and his head all over the place.

They do buy well generally, and with the number of chances created and possession they have, even an average striker will bag a fair quantity of goals.

They are built on the high-press, speed of transition, and work-rate (cough cough). If any of those things falter, then they are in bother more generally.

I imagine this guy will probably do enough to justify the fee, but you need goals against your own rivals and in big games.

Lukaku is the prime example of a striker with an exceptional goals record, but he doesn't quite cut it in terms of true quality and bagging when it matters most.

Up front they do. Not so much elsewhere.

If they manage to get any combination of three forwards who are better than Mane Firmino Salah for linking up, being clinical, working hard, and being available every game, then they’ll have recruited very well indeed.

Lukaku is a prime example of it sometimes just not working for good strikers at some clubs.

Salah will probably leave at the end of next season and then it will be up to Dias Nunez and another to be at a level to win PLs and CLs. Let’s hope they live up to Murder Inc.‘s expectations or there lol be trouble.

If shippmann was a man of his word he should resign now shouldn’t he?

Let’s see the media hold his feet to the fire on his stupid remark about pogba from a few years ago, the hypocritical muppet.

"He changed his mind. People are allowed to change their minds!!!"

Yeah, but normally when people change their minds you expect them to justify why rather than just doing what they said they wouldn't do and hoping no one will notice

There was a lot of that when Klopp whinged about us being on the pitch after the Palace game and then pictures surfaced of pitch invasions at Mainz whilst he had a big grin on his face

"He changed his mind on it"

Oh yeah, just in time to have a pop at Everton eh? How convenient....

Gathering that trio together was lightening striking.

No chance they get a trio like that again.

I'm not fussed on Diaz for a start. Nenez is going to have a lot of expectation on him.

City have got a goal scorer you can bank on if he stays fit.
