Financial reasons for both sides, he can go to a less demanding league and prolong his career and get paid the wage he was told he wasn't going to get and his previous club don't get the burden of paying him in his 30's 350k a week while saving money for those potential wages and getting 27-35 million in return, looks like it was planned months ahead with Diaz coming in early.
Be the same with Salah, keep him in his prime and then let someone else have the burden paying him a huge wage he wants when in his 30s and scout a left footed younger replacement the next 12 months while Salah runs down his contract, very much American sports influence in dealing with aging star players who demand bigger contracts that's creeping into Football now. If you see this summer's free agency list then clubs don't seem to mind players running contracts down, as wage demands go up, they see the bigger picture of letting some other give them the money and save those potential wages funds on a replacement instead.
Seems all parties are happy with this Mane deal, was done in just over a week.
I see the logic. Indeed I stated it around 2 years ago I didnt see that front 3 staying much beyond the next 12 months.
FSG think like traders. They will want to deploy capital into what they see as productive growth, and not players who are likely to decline.
Overall I think they could have managed it better. Should have probably moved at least one of them on a bit earlier, and will undoubtedly have left some cash on the table. I think they gambled on last season, and it nearly worked, so you can sort of argue it both ways to be fair.
He and Salah (if Salah goes) will be a miss. Salahs goals have carried Liverpool for some time, and in fairness Manes goals last season got them two the 2 finals and 2nd place. I'm not sure Dias improves much more (but may maintain levels). There are gambling on Nunez repeating Manes output.
That's the risk of the system really. They have to keep compounding the odds, and selling sides ask for more and more cash. 60m for Dias, 90m + agents fees etc for Nunez.
As for Mane, think he will do well in Germany. This will sound a bit odd, but probably he, Salah and Firmino all probably need a team built around them now. Firmino in a 10, and the other 2 as 9s. I'm not sure that could be fitted in with the way Klopp wants to play.
27m quid for him though, before you subtract out the agents fee, and the players cut, as he hasnt put a transfer request in, could turn out to be a bargain. I think Bayern will be very happy!
