ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Meanwhile in the BBC's 'things which never happened' series...

'Almost' my 'arris... he really must think we were born yesterday...
The thing about that story is that you think from the headline "he must be wanting to ring in to protect a fellow manager in trouble from unreasonable pundits"....but he actually was concerned that the criticism will sting United into a good rebound game against Liverpool.

The utter chutzpah is staggering.

Unbelievable the BBC is even asking this question

That seems reasonable to me: the Treble of United's including the CL and PL versus the Doubruple of Liverpool of both domestic cups.

What completely unbiased national media outlet wouldn't compare both feats? :coffee:

By the way, the way the Establishment Klub's media successfully buried the Nunez assault by Monday was truly remarkable. An attack that would get someone a custodial sentence in the real world is massaged out of view. A non-subject.

If a player at another elite club had done it we'd be still seeing it in the headlines now with talk shows and tv pundits condemning it and demanding a 10 game ban.

That's what an Establishment Klub does. These are the things they get off with.

As said before, this is Franco-era Real Madrid level of protection we're seeing here. .

If he played for anyone but them or the rags, there would have been 24 hour a day rolling coverage on a loop on Sky. Various pundits and journos all chipping in and demanding a lengthy ban. The media are terrified of upsetting Liverpool and rarely criticise or mock them. Which is probably why when they do receive any negative press, no matter how justified it is, the cult members all completely overreact and start sending death threats.

The moment the game ended Sky went into a scramble to put together a package of the challenges between Andersen and Nunez that framed it as Nunez 'finally snapping'. Then the pundits made the head butt just one of the talking points no more worthy of comment than *the remarkable* Diaz goal or the *amazing 10-man performance* of Liverpool.

This is what happens when a club has massive sway in the media; the media outlets dont even have to think about it, they go into 'protect the brand mode automatically'.

I can see United beating these. They'll be boosted by Casemiro joining even if he doesn't play. They also tend to raise their level when the RS go to Old Trafford.

Actually can't get over this article. Imagine comparing England's only ever treble winning team, crammed with legends, with a team that won an FA Cup and a Coca Cola Cup. And the Liverpool writer actually attempts to compare the two. Holy moly
It's also noticeable that it is not open for comments. Because they know that every non rs would just rip them apart

I didn't hear anything else (at all) about the fan running onto the pitch either.
I thought that was being clamped down on?

Come on now, their passion overflows sometimes, it's what the floodlights of Anfield can do. They shouldn't be tarred with the same brush as the dangerous clubs out there. They are saint-like and can commit no wrongdoings.

Ferguson was jailed for less than that..

Just read that Klopp has said that if the Man Utd is called off because of protests etc, the RS should get all three points.

I know you couldn't make it up.... but where they're concerned, let's face it, you'd never need to - its right there before you.
