ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I just go along with them, when they are claiming corruption. And then throw the odd comment in like “ makes you wonder though, if it was corrupt, was Matip in on it? Surely If you can’t accept VAR making a human error you can’t take that excuse from players aswell, I think Matip meant that OG Because he has an agenda against lipeeewl the same as VAR has”. They hate me in our work. I’ll be told to concentrate on my own team by someone who hasn’t been to anfield for about five years at some point this week.

Yesterday I was watching the Netflix series Bad Sport, it is about controversies on sport, for those who have not seen it. The 3rd episode is about the Italian football scandal.

What went on was calls to the referees association to set up the right refs, among other things, don't think that is going on specifically but one big element that is the same is the attacks on the refs themselves.

Refs will always be under the microscope and they know that if they do not do their job properly they will be demoted, etc. However, when a team like them come out with things like corruption, game to be replayed, ref should be sacked, etc. that is when we get into the realms of the Italian Footballgate scandal.

Other refs see this and do not want the same to happen to them so they will obviously be biased, it is human nature to go the other way.

Their ability to blow these kind of things out of proportion is to be admired, in some way, but it is just a different way to influence refs. Comments like 'This should never happen again', I am sorry but somewhere a ref and/or VAR is already making another similar mistake, which will be talked about for 5 minutes max, especially if it happens to a club with no cult like media clout.

I don’t understand the (clear agenda driven) narrative that this was an ‘unprecedented’ decision, as if VAR has ever been advertised as a 100% guaranteed solution for offsides.

VAR makes wrong calls on offsides all the time, there was one just this weekend at Villa Park where a ridiculous goal was allowed to stand despite a player clearly obstructing the Brighton keeper, same thing a few weeks ago between City and Fulham as well.

Yes they may be slightly different cases but they are still about the issue of offside, and unlike the one against the RS they were fully analysed by the VAR team before the wrong decision was reached, whereas this one was clearly down to breakdown in communication/the VAR ref being asleep at his screen.

It’s honestly incredible how this lot can mobilise the media to do their bidding.
