ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

By the way, just on the Diaz story again...and I genuinely feel sorry for the family and hope the dad's released ASAP...but if you were Diaz would you be playing against Luton or would you have been back home in Columbia by now to be with the rest of your family?

I mean that doesn't sound like what any normal person would do...continue to train and play games and sat at home in your luxury home in Cheshire or whatever. You'd want to be back in Colombia surely?

Never-mind the fact he could probably afford any ransom fee

If my arl fella was sitting in a jungle captured by terrorists I'd send them rent

Media reporting on Newcastle’s goal v Arsenal at the weekend has pretty much died down in heat now. Liverpool kept attention on the Diaz call for weeks. That’s the difference between one team who has weaponised the media and one who hasn’t. Konate’s avoided red card call controversy lasted all of a few hours before it just got swept away.

Seems strange to me all this.

Imagine you're his dad sitting in th steaming jungle surrounded by fellers with armalite rifles and you're tucking in to your bush tucker of caterpillars and earwigs, and the guerrillas show you the game going on at Luton with your son playing footy.

I'd be thinking: "You can stick that Para Papa stuff up your arse, lad".

Exactly.

Liverpool are Britain's Real Madrid during the Franco period.

Read any report on them and the caveat is always in there

Liverpool have only lost once this season (and even that was to a highly contentious VAR error ruling out Diaz’s goal)

Liverpool have only lost once at Anfield to Everton since 1999 (and that was with no crowd in the stadium)

Liverpool lost the champions league final to Real Madrid (but that was with Mo Salah missing the game after a contentious foul by Ramos went unpunished)

Liverpool had an unsuccessful title defence (but that was caused by an unprecedented I njury crisis in the centreback position)

I’ve honestly never known anything like it, if ever a negative story emerges on them (which is rare) it’s immediately accompanied by a caveat to legitimise it, and it’s amazing how on message every single pundit is, all of them make sure time after time they get these caveats in.

As of yet there’s been no explanation at all about why Liverpool who almost won a quadruple (apparently) are playing in the europa league this season and not the CL. Maybe if no one ever mentions it everyone will just forget last season?

I watched Rodri handle a ball in the area against us, VAR review it, not give anything, and it was swept away. That decision could have sent us down that season. Yet we’re still hearing about Pickford’s ‘foul’ or the Mane offside, or Diaz’s goal years months and weeks after relatively uncontentious incidents.

Headline on the BBC after that game yesterday: "DIAZ CLINCHES DRAW FOR LIVERPOOL".

It's unreal the prism they view matches involving them.

It goes beyond them being an elite club too. Man Utd never got this under peak-Ferguson.

The only way to explain it is a combination of factors: people in the media who latched onto them during their 80s pomp (when we knocked them off their perch and so did Arsenal BTW) and started following them as kids + a belief that the club were hard done by over Hillsborough..they weren't, the fans of specific families were (and they back heel anything about Heysel as 'irrelevant') + a lot of them are petrified of their fans hounding them out of a job in journalism so they throw their hand in with the psychos.

Taking it well on RAWK...

I am absolutely sure that Luton would have received 2-3 extra yellow cards if they had played against 115FC or the Saudis. It's a joke how everything was a foul against us, but they could get away with murder. Possession 26:74 but fouls 7:13? Something is clearly not right with that. Stopping a counter with your hand is only a foul now, no yellow. It's a [Poor language removed] joke.

The foul on Virg would have been given as a PK to them. See Rodri last week.
Instead of doing their jobs, they ref to a narrative.

Still pissed off at the foul on Jota by that bitter [Poor language removed] dog Barkley in the first half...an ankle snapper challenge that the dirty [Poor language removed] appears to have patented

Last week I bemoaned City getting that penalty on the basis that that sort of pulling and shoving happens at every set piece and if you give that you have to give them all (until players learn not to do it I guess). Lo and behold, the next week, probably more gratuitous than the City penalty and nothing doing.

It's growing increasingly hard to care about the league when the outcome is predetermined by the refs. City are allowed to have bad games where they get a soft pen but we get so little from the refs. Now that the Spurs result is forgotten they're back on their [Poor language removed] again with the non-pen when Van Dijk was rugby tackled, blatant ignoring of a yellow for handball and generally rewarding Luton for dropping to the floor
