ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I see it differently to Ferguson and the likes of Mourinho as well.

You could see theirs was a siege mentality, they just tended to be a bit condescending when the thought the question was a bit redundant but it was nowhere near the regularity and pettiness/arrogance that Klopp shows. A lot of the time it is also to extremely valid questions/points raised.
Nah Fergie was hugely petty

He knows the injury to Matip has scuppered them.

That's at the back of those snide remarks.

They’re not playing well enough to win the title but they’re being airlifted to challenging for one. There’s no way anyone can say this team is as good as their 19/20 version but it’s additional points every week thanks to favourable refereeing. Konate red v us, City disallowed goal for nothing, three major decisions their way last night. There’s 5 extra points just off the top of my head from three games.

It’s occurring every week now. Arsenal and City have to be perfect to get three points. Liverpool just have to not be completely terrible and the refs will find a way to sort it for them. Almost every single goal they concede is subject to a forensic VAR review in a manner no other team has. They are refereed to a completely different standard than any other team. If that’s Doucoure clattering into the Sheffield United player it’s a penalty without question. If any Everton player leaves the ground with their studs up it’s a certain red, Liverpool get one of those waved away almost every game.

I had hoped VAR and goal line technology would sort out what I saw as incompetent refereeing during the 2000s in the premier league but all it has done has allowed for even more manipulation to the point where now the game is almost unwatchable as a contest because it’s honestly become a circus act with clowns like Carragher and Neville telling you why the most blatant penalty you’ve ever seen or the worst tackle you’ve seen actually isn’t a pen or red card against Liverpool on a weekly basis.

The game is getting very close to being filed under the entertainment category rather than a serious sport. Eventually the eyeballs will go elsewhere as they eventually departed from La Liga and Serie A when they became uncompetitive laughing stocks riddled with corruption and referees in the pockets of the big clubs.

They do get all that rub of the green, yes. But the fact remains that they've won one PL title*.

They've had all the breaks so far and still they lie 2 points off the top to an Arsenal team that I wouldn't say have been great at any time this season.

Liverpool cant defend. That'll be their undoing. They may score a lot but they'll need to score at least 2 a game away from home to get anything out of of it - one clean sheet all season away from home (to a terrible Sheff Utd last night - and lucky there too). Matip's absence will place even more pressure on them.

They'll get 2 asterisks against a title this year. One for VAR assistance and another for decisions against City and let's wait and see if it's against Arsenal too.
