ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Going under the radar a bit that red card - is that the first time in the history of the league a player has received two yellow cards for dissent in the same 5 second window? Felt like a real last ditch attempt by Oliver to preserve that lot
The red card isn’t going under the radar, however what is getting hidden is Nunez stopping with the goal gaping to instead try and claim a pen on Diaz. That effectively would have won them the game had he scored and the Dalot red probably doesn’t happen

It looked to me like it was part of the same phase of dissent too.

Dalmot protested once then as Oliver brought out the first yellow he was in the process of complaining again and then stopped. But Oliver then brought out the second yellow.

That second yellow will be appealed.

I only watched the 2nd half of that United game. I saw United almost execute the perfect counter attacking performance on a home team that lacked any real idea of how to break down a stubborn defence by shifting the ball about with speed and with close passing around the box. Liverpool weren't up to it. They have players that are good with the ball in front of them and that's it. No playmakers and no forwards - apart from Salah who was doubled up on - cute enough to play going across a defence.

United executed two or three counter attacks almost to perfection and should have wrapped up the points.

Long story short: if you're a Kopite watching that you've just had it confirmed that Liverpool are not a title winning outfit...and they'll also be thinking "a bet other teams have seen that and will come to Anfield now and do the same trick". Any PL team can do what United did.

That's the source of the Kopite fury.

Something very telling for me today was the crowd sounding really loud on the telly but Neville and Carragher commenting on how quiet it was. Proves they amplify the crowd noise on the broadcast for the telly fans.
I was thinking that very exact same thing watching it and hearing what they said about how quiet the atmosphere was
About 3yrs ago Carragher did a televised tour of the Goodison camera gantry and pointed out the dial that controls the fan noise output.

I’m convinced we would have done them that way had the referee not fixed that game. They had nothing 11 v 11 and nothing 11 v 10. They should have gone down to 10 v 10 and we were the fitter side looking dangerous on the counterattacks .

taking off my anti RS glasses, I'm happy with that, players are horrible in the way they talk to refs so I'm with MO on this.

Same in that Lampard derby at Anfield.

A plan was hatched to bring them on to us and use our pace to worry them.

If one of the worst Everton teams of recent times can do that then so can the vast majority of clubs in this PL today.

They're pretty clueless Liverpool when all is said and done. They've scrambled 18 points they shouldn't have had this season from losing positions because of a combination of the opposition not seeing it out and Liverpool players throwing themselves to ground because that's all they have left to contribute or a ref just going solo and handing them a barmy decision.

I see no threat to Arsenal from this lot, much less a City team with Haaland and KDB back in the mix.

This is what you get when you fail to keep middle class 'know alls' out of a working class game.

Some clueless egg head who thinks their word-smithery can mask a complete misunderstanding of our game.

There's two sides to football: defence and attack. I must say I quite enjoyed seeing United's defence play though a pathetic Liverpool press as though they were down the park having a knock about.

The sheer arrogance. Why would they expect to be invited to a Club World Cup in 2025 when they last won the Champions League 6 years earlier?View attachment 238863
Best thing about this is last time they were in the damn thing all Klopp did was cry about playing too many games… you can’t have it both ways you knobs

This always irks me, when people talk about playing the 'right' way. At the end of the day, it is a results business, there is of course the entertainment argument but there is a purist way to look at football and tactical, positional, discipline can still be something to praise, to enjoy.

All our wins this season have been with less than 50% possession, there are multiple ways to win a game and the arrogance that shows in these clubs and fans who get bettered by a defensive display is infuriatingly annoying.

Our game against Chelsea, when they were crying about being the better team, how many shots did they have where we overly worried. It is called defending and pushing other teams to work hard to score, if they can't then that is on them but as said, the arrogance overrides the actual analysis of a football game and praising defenders and tactics.
