Balco is probably the most famous lab to get caught out and once again it wasn't due to a failed drug test but because the lab was turned over. Think an agent was checking their bins out and found boxes of banned substances. Paper trial linked Olympic Gold medialists , top baseball players, NFL Players. Even British athletes like Dwain Chambers got caught out.

Sociedad in Spain (then Barca and Madrid stole their doctor). Most Italian teams at some point.

It’s always incredibly obvious when it happens (I’d say Liverpool now is the latest example of it being very obvious) but like you say. No one ever fails.

I think the way money has gone now particularly in the premier league that there are only 7/8 teams in the league that the establishment would turn a blind eye to (I don’t for a second believe that we would be able to get away with it for example), and it is always establishment eye turning that allows them to get away with it.

Eufemiano Fuentes was definately supplying a load of La Liga Teams and had hundreds of blood samples for players but other than the cyclists no one else was named.

Cycling has a bad reputation for doping but they are one of the only sports to invest in testing to try and catch them. FIFA spend next to nothing on its testing.

Good documentary to watch is the Ben Johnson one " The race that shocked the world " He was on steriods but he trained unreal and at one point in their careers 7 of the finalists of that 100m final tested positive for illegal substances. The only one who never was the person who came last. Also talks about testing old samplesin 1988 from the 1984 Olympics and finding out the majority of people had been doping but the tests at the time in 84 couldn't detect. They just burned all the samples and done nothing in the end as they would have had to take the majority of the medals off the athletes.
