Brazil-bound Steven Gerrard admits he has been seeing the England psychiatrist to banish the nightmare of his blunder that shattered Liverpool's Premier League dream,
writes Steve Bates for The Sunday People.
Gerrard believes Dr Steve Peters has helped him get over the horror moment against Chelsea when the Kop’s title hopes suffered a fatal blow.
The England and Anfield skipper said: “At the time, I had a tough few days because I don’t like making mistakes, let alone big ones at important times.
“I spoke with Steve Peters. I talk to Steve about the good and bad things I do in every single game and every single training session.
“Having him there is a help in dealing with it.”
Gerrard has never watched the X-rated clip of the catastrophic slip that let in Chelsea’s Demba Ba to score the goal that effectively handed the title to Manchester City.
But he added: “I don’t want anyone thinking I am a young, naive, insecure person who goes home and cries in his bedroom.
“That didn’t happen. I’m 33 years of age
with more than 100 caps and 600 appearances, so I’m big enough and brave enough to take it on the chin.
“I take responsibility for the slip and the damage it’s done to Liverpool, but it wasn’t the first mistake I have made.
