ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I have it on good authority that Rodgers is planning on using the classic English tactic used in their first friendly against Scotland. 1-1-8. I can't comment on whether this is due to a new sponsorship on Liverpool's behalf.

A forward line of Messi, Neymar and Suarez
I haven't watched a huge amount of Lallana and haven't been blown away by what I have seen. Good player, no doubt, but £25m is a good £8-10m too much, for me.

Pleased with this if it happens.

Strange how Southampton have all these really good English players and had a really good manager but didnt do anything last season, something doesn't add up but I can't quite put my finger on it...

You know sods law will be he'll play well against us lol
Of course, how things are going, we might actually get an anfield win this season

Gets a bit tiresome after a while though.

Like having a loaded neighbour who keeps buying BMW's, Porsches and lamborghinis just for show and writing them off at regular intervals while I continue to get from a to b in my ford KA.

Amusing to see him writing them off of course, but at the end of the day he keeps buying them cos he can.

Be nice if we could buy a Lukaku shaped super car just for once like.

Actually what he's doing is buying Vauxhall Astras and telling his wife and children that it's a Ferrarri, they're a bit thick so they believe him and start bragging to their mates that their dad has bought a top of the range car. Their mates come round and rip the piss but the children just stamp their feet and say "it IS a Ferrari, it IS'.

His neighbours are buying actual Ferraris and Lamborghinis and having trips to Europe and winning prizes and what not and the children say 'We should be winning those prizes! WE should be going to Europe! Our car is better than theirs!'

And they never EVER learn.

Pretty sure the trouble was more like he was buying his wife the Vauxhall Astra and giving his bit on the side a good Porsche(in).

I just thought I'd leave this here...

My own personal view is this...

(1) If you analyse our transfer activity over the past 4 years it has been extremely good. I would have thought that is fairly obvious by the fact that we have gone from 6-8th to 2nd. I am not sure that those supporters who complain about our transfer activity being generally bad are actually paying proper attention.

But more analytically, FSG has had net transfer spend of 100m and has increased the inherent value of the squad by about 100m. I guess that doesnt sound impressive but bear in mind that the transfer value of a player tends to depreciate over time (a fact that is pretty obvious on the basis that when a footballer retires he is worth exactly zero) (and is why we depreciate our squad by 30m+ a year.)

I think our transfer activity has been at least as good if not better than all the other top 6 (I dont include Everton.)

He's alright but it's big money on a player that isn't in the same class as the true heavyweights of European football would consider.

You only have to look at United going out and buying top tier talent in Herrera who could be one of the very best for roughly the same amount of money to see the difference - even without Champions League football.

Chelsea, City, United wouldn't have glanced at Lallana for £25m. It's the desperate, just off top tier signings that the likes of Liverpool and Spurs make as they don't have the clout to get the very best.

Yeah I guess for £25million they could have got someone with proven European quality.

Hull EFC's post on Suarez is just the best I've seen on why ratboy does what he does - everything is oK then no problem; things not going well - he reverts to type. This should be made available to a wider audience .....Well done sir !!

To take up on the point about how "unfair" it is that Liverpool have to lose out when the Rat was away on international duty and it were nowt to do with us, guv.

Harry Catterick bought an inside forward name of Tony Kay from Sheffield Wednesday circa 1962 and he turned out to be the final piece of this jigsaw which fetched the Title back to Goodison.

Tony was highly regarded and was an England international at a time when very few players got to play for England, unlike today.

The following year Tony was arrested for match fixing while he was at Hillsborough and he was banned from football and sent to jail.

Fast forward thirty odd years and Duncan Ferguson, established as Everton's main goal threat, is sent to Barlinnie for an offence committed in Scotland some year before.

On both occasions we lost the services of top players for offences which were nowt to do with EFC.

And we won't even mention Heysel.

So sod off Kopites.

You aren't innocent victims here.

FFS you bought him while he was serving a ban for biting.

Shut the heck up and take your medicine with the "class and grace" befitting your toerag of a club
