The "best player" is pretty much subjective, is it not?
Personally I think Yaya Toure or Silva were the two best players in the league last season.
And if one of those boys had won it, the award could not have been described as meaning nothing as either would have been worthy recipients.

Of course it is, his past behaviour (he actually wasn't that bad last season) should not affect his best status as best player. If you think that Silva and Toure were better then fair enough. I disagree with you but you're entitled to your opinion.

His all round game was awesome that season, I remember it well. He commanded an £80m bid from Real afterwards.

He went to Uruguay to prepare for the World Cup and Liverpool had no control over him from that point.

I know I am.
That is why I say one cannot describe the award as bing a "farce and meaning nothing" if it goes to a player one doesn't think was the best player.

He commanded £80m from Real the year before. There was a lot of frustration with Ronaldo that year from United fans because the general feeling was he wasn't playing to the same standards as the two years previous.

Not how I remember it, he was excellent. He was in the premier league team of the year and was a major reason why they won the league.
