I can't look for it, but I'm almost certain he was being serious. Even still it takes the mind of a complete mentalist to come up with such pap. So not really making anything up to laugh at them, they're a parody.

who in their right mind goes to USA just to go around and visit locations of tragic events?

i'm all for showing respect, but they're there on a football tour. they don't need to hire cameramen to follow them around and film all of this happening, that's why we think of it to be in poor taste. and they describe naismith's gesture as a publicity stunt.
