Graeme Souness calls Mario Balotelli signing "an enormous gamble" by Liverpool FC

"It's an enormous gamble by Rodgers," said Souness. “And it’s a gamble I don't think he needs to take because he has a very strong group of players. The harmony looks good but he may find, like every previous manager of Balotelli, that he will spend more time talking about him, spending time with him and defending him than he will the rest of the group put together."

Balotelli is expected to sign a three-year deal having taken a pay cut to move to Merseyside. He previously spent time in the Premier League with Manchester City, where he won both the Premier League and FA Cup.

"At times Balotelli doesn't seem to enjoy football," Souness added. "Big teams can do without people who pick and choose when they will have a go. It's a high-risk signing and I wouldn't want him.”

That's another few more bullets in the post for him.

Haha. Last season was a fluke, Suarez was a man on a mission to get his big move like Cristiano's last season at United.

Their aim for this season will be top 4 not the title.
That`s right mate, our aim will be top four just like last season. City and Chelsea looked nailed on, United look vulnerable and don`t look like they`re strengthening their squad where they need to, Arsenal just about got into the top four the last few years and look shaky at times, we`ve just sold our top scorer and brought in a load of new players (struggled to get our first choice striking targets in), Spurs have had a good start to the season and should be better under Pocchetino, you lads have a small but quality squad (if you can keep your best players fit for most of the season, you`s have a chance). It looks like it`s going to be another interesting season.

Aim.

Realistically? Can't see that happening, especially if they play like they did against Southampton
You can`t look at one game and come to the conclusion that's the way the whole season will pan out. We played pretty [Poor language removed] against Southampton and still got the three points. I could say because we took the three points after playing [Poor language removed] then we are nailed on top four but that would be,well, stupid. We started off pretty average last season and got better as the season progressed.

I could say the same about you lads. Threw away the lead in two games and came away with two points rather than six which means you`ve no chance of top four/six. See, pretty easy this guessing game isn`t it.

Personally think both sides have a good chance of top four. Martinez looks like a real good manager with an attractive way of playing the game.

Just driven through Bristol, 3 massive BT Sport billboards all showing different RS wins from last season, dunno they don't just call themselves LFCTV and have done with it, tossers.

In the Villa/Barcode game yesterday not only was Michael Owen droning away monotonously as color commentator, they had McManaman and Gary McAllister providing the analysis at half and full time.

Souness is one of the few to enter the Cult's temple and emerge mentally unscarred.

He's despised by them for giving an interview to the Sun....Rodgers did a charity gig for them and wore their t-shirt = free pass.

Brilliant.

Souness gave an interview with the S*n while he was our manager.

Rodgers wore a S*n t shirt for a charity event 12 months before he was offered the job as our manager.

Not exactly the same is it Dave.

Why isn't it?

Rather two faced of Rodgers isn't it? One second he loves the Sun. The next he hates them.

Falseness

So he does one charity gig with a S*n t shirt 12 months before he`s offered the Liverpool job and that`s the evidence that he "loves" the S*n, and as he`s now the Liverpool manager he`s now considered "two faced"?

Ok mate.

Ok mate.
I thought Rodgers had been profoundly affected by Hillsborough ever since the incident took place.

Seems odd that someone who felt as strongly as he always did would be willing to work with The Sun.

So if someone now doing stuff for the Sun becomes Liverpool manager next season or the season after, that'd be ok?

Rodgers knew all about the Sun and Liverpool when he put that t-shirt on and gave that paper publicity. He wasn't a wide eyed innocent. EVERYONE in football knew what the Sun meant to people in Liverpool. He exercised his judgement that it was a trade off to give them free publicity and get some cash off them for the charity he was walking for.

You can give him a free pass if you like. I wont.

Ok mate.

We both know he had no hesitation of wearing a Sun tshirt.

Then he's taken to wearing a tokenistic armband.

The man is fickle and plays up to sympathies in which ever way the wind appears to be blowing.
