ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I think it's quite interesting how they spent no money this window. They were going on about the need to bring in a new striker (sturridge is still massively injury prone) yet the yanks have given Rodgers no money to spend.

It suggests to me either:
1) They no longer trust Brent with the money
2) There isn't any money left to spend.

Neither option bodes well for Brent or Liverpool. Option 1 means he has lost their trust and won't be there in the medium term. Option 2 means they are not going to bankroll the club in a manner they need to be a top 4 team. It also shows, unless managers get top 4 they won't be given money to spend long term, and as they rarely finish in the top 6 this will be a major problem.

They have urgent needs that still need to be addressed. They need a centre half, a new goalkeeper and a new centre forward. The fact they've spent no money just says to me the pressure is building for Rodgers.

Hitting N's on the H there, buddy. It doesn't take a money person (and FSG are money people) to realize that Codgers' activity in the transfer market has been the worst use of money since the purchase of Bebo.

Well yes. The Liverpool fans seem to think there will be an endless supply of money for them and that tap is getting switched off. I can see major disharmony for them going forward. Disagreements over FSG, Rodgers and Gerrard will begin to tear their fan base apart. For a number institution disagreement is welcomed and normal. For a cult who need 1 opinion to adhere too it becomes very destabilising.

It will lead too different factions trying to garner support that they and they alone have the true Doctrine handed down to them from God ("Shanks") and a protracted spell of arguments. It all bodes very well for those who enjoy a good laugh. History repeats itself, first as comedy then as farce!

To be fair to the fraud, Rodgers has dealt with the Gerrard problem pretty well (if not a little too late) and has already yielded some results, at least in the short term. The cult will forget about Stevie soon enough, until he starts agitating for a management role after his holiday.

Well yes I wrote a lot on this in this thread and indeed on the Gerrard thread. To summarise on him (put simplistically);

1) He is now a liability to their team, he was an excellent attacking midfielder, but lacks the team ethic to play defensive midfield.
2) They are better without him
3) A lot of their fans cannot understand this
4) They have underachieved this season, Rodgers is a loser of a manager who has won rop all
5) Gerrard knows all of this, and will use the fans against him
6) Gerrard is cheesed off that he has not been made centre of attention.
7) If there is any possibility of him staying (and getting rid of Rodgers to do so) he will.

It is an unstable situation. Rodgers recently said he wasn't looking to take him back on loan. He can't wait to get rid of him. Gerrard will understand the power base of the fans and look to manipulate them (as Rodgers has). It will be an epic showdown.

In one corner you have an epic looser of a man, he has the demeanour and charm of a failed estate agent.

In the other you have a good footballer who considers himself on a par with the worlds greats. Again his career achievements can be summed up as winning a penalty kick competition and slipping up at the key critical moment to achieve the pinnacle moment of winning the championship. Both have a huge ego. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Won't be long before the affables compare their situation to being "gang raped".

I think it's good that we haven't heralded the arrival of Aaron Lennon like he's Garrincha meets Robben. We haven't drooled like the RS did when Balotelli, Lambert, Joe Cole, & Victor Moses arrived.

When you do something like that, it tends to make one look staggeringly moronic.

But Joe Cole can do stuff with a ball Messi can't. Stevie said so....

Rember at the time when they were all comparing Gerrard Torres and Joe Cole to Messi Iniesta and Villa. Truly embarassing.

Sound as a pound Aldo on the cup:

"The Cup is there for the taking. I can’t believe Arsenal are 7/4 favourites to retain their trophy. What’s that all about? Manchester United are also shorter odds than we are, but neither of those two teams are great shakes this season."

Unreal.

I would have thought he would be happy with the RS at 6/1 and put all his money on it. Come on Aldo get your wedge on it.........or maybe you're not too sure after all .............
