ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Us, Arsenal, Spurs, Utd and City?

Well we were playing with an injury hit team. United were awful. They lost to Arsenal in the cup. Sherwood had completely lost the dressing room at Spurs by that point.

City was an impressive win. Mainly on the back of Skirtl volleyballing it away and Toure going off injured.

When it came to the crunch though they couldn't even get a draw with Chelsea, and couldn't beat Palace. I'm not knocking them they won a handful of games on a decent run before bottling against the top team in the division. Similar to us in Moyes's first season where we won 7 games on the bounce. Nobody even remembers that now, yet you know with them last season will go down in folklaw.
If they want to celebrate that as an achievement good for them I wouldn't though.

This is an interesting discussion re: the strengths, or rather weaknesses of the LFC squad (not just the quoted post but from all of the preceding posts between yourself, Toffeejack, davek and others). Based on the points that have been raised, it seems to me that the only logical conclusion is that Rodgers is a genius.

I wouldn't say Rodgers is a genius, but I'd say he was a decent manager a bit like a Moyes. He takes average or decent players and makes them look better. But when it comes to the crunch he lacks the winning mentality. Unlike Moyes though, he spends huge money on decent players. There's no doubt Lallana, Markovic, Lovren are all decent players but you probably paid about twice as much for all of them.

Did Steve just say the CL isnt the cash cow it once was?

FFS STEVE

They'll go out in the group stage. This will probably earn them around £15m? Once costs have been deducted that will be reduced considerably. To about £12.5m maybe. That's the cost of a Borini before wages.

They'll bottle it anyway so it's fairly moot.

The amount of Blues falling over themselves to compliment the rs. Shocking. No amount of title wins, cup wins will change what they are.
there is a difference between complimenting them and simply pointing out the obvious 'they are doing well'.

Complimenting them is saying they are the best team ever and doing a comparable post between how good they are compared to us. Or even comparing managers!

no interest in doing that tbh

I can go through my life without feeling the need to say "they are doing well" especially on an Everton forum.

That City game has been ridiculously revised. They were battered that game. Liverpool caught them cold straight away then scored from a set piece. City then turned the screw and even at Anfield Liverpool had no response. Could have been 5-2 to City but the usual combination of teams finishing poorly and good luck kept it level. One brainfart from Kompany gifted them the win and they've been going on about how they demolished City ever since. Arsenal was a very good win (but then Arsenal's B team beat them in the cup, and both Chelsea and ourselves also routed Arsenal away from home). They also like to forget in the reverse fixture Arsenal schooled them and it could have been any score. They were poor at home v United but good at Old Trafford. They were woeful at Goodison but good against a team of crocks at Anfield. They like to do the usual kopite trick of just forgetting half a season each year (same again this time) but the reality is they didn't just smash everyone for the whole season. They smashed some teams on a decent run in the back end of the campaign. If they had they would have won it but as everyone knows they didn't.

Didn't take a point off Chelsea shouldn't have beaten City, let in loads of goals = didn't deserve to win the league. Jog on moronic kopites.

it is in the face of 'they are lucky, they are always lucky' comments.

Or did i forget about the lack of sensibility and maturity that is required to post here :p

Not all of us harbour a pure hatred for them lot. I personally enjoy seeing them fail sure, and dont enjoy seeing them win anything but i'm not going to comment about them 24-7 as if they a a bunch of criminals let out every saturday for a kick about.

In a perfect world they would be all lined up and shot but I understand that's a bit harsh for some so I'd settle for them to be lined up and shot using urine filled nerf guns !

Rushes to dictionary.com to check the definition of 'complimenting'.

You couldn't make that up. Aldo on United:

United and everyone else positioned as the money spending clubs after the no mark has spent £250M in two seasons.

What's that he says about Everton fans being bitter?

The kind guy of sums them up really. There is a seething anger underneath them all. It's the same sort of anger your racist geriatric UKIP voter has. The world has changed around them (for the better) and they are a sad relic of the past that very few people remember. They are angry at everyone else for forgetting how brilliant they are.

It seethes through Aldridge. They haven't won the league in 26 years. That is a longer wait than at any time in the 20th or 19th century for Everton. yet they have the cheek to carry on like they are a huge club and we are no marks.

Unfortunately when somebody points out these facts to them, in a calm manner, you are accused of being a "bitter blue" or "delusional". It's the same sort of conspiracy Ukip supporters have when it is explained they are wrong, they start lashing out.

Last night on talk sport was a joke. Caller after caller debating the brilliance of Rodgers. They live in a parallel world.
