almost to a man the press seem very keen to tell Sterling he should just be a good boy and sign that contract

Coutinho’s contribution to Liverpool’s season has rocketed since it was announced in February that he had signed a new five-year contract with a minimum of fuss. The Brazilian had scored twice in 31 games before committing his future to Anfield; he has been instrumental in their Premier League recovery and attempt to reach the FA Cup final since. Rodgers believes there is no coincidence between Coutinho’s contract and form.

“There will be a psychological impact from it as he feels this is the place where he’s going to spend the best part of his career,” the Liverpool manager said. “He wants to be here. That can have a settling effect.”

Sterling, and those around him, should wish for the same.

I reckon if Sterling got a new contract giving him £150,000 per week it might have a similar effect.

I thought that w the weekly pay packet figure being bandied around!
Yes it is the figure his agent has been reportedly asking for although tbh it is probably like any negotiating tactic - one side goes high and the other low and then meet somewhere in the middle and everyone feels like they have got a good deal. If had to guess would say he'll probably extend his contract for around somewhere in the 100-130k region with some generous incentives and a buyout clause, Luke Shaw is rumoured to be paid in that region for United.

Was just meaning that rarely have I seen it suggested that Sterling should hold out for the highest fee he can get whilst he is in demand as it can be a erratic career that a bad injury can quickly cut short.

You should read Aldos take on things in his Echo column LL, "we all make mistakes" "move on and sign contract as it makes sense he should be here as Liberpool are best club for him" "I would be happy if Liverpool sign Benteke in the summer" blah blah blah, hope he only gets paid 20p per word the dirty Kopite scruff

has there ever been anybody with such a high media profile that so little people care about reading from?

He's like a little 8 year old kid as well mate, talks about Liverpool playing 3 at the back because of Benteke posing a threat, a player they've never been linked with and whose only just started getting back to form and he just assumes "yeah I like him so we should have him and he will come cos we are Liberpool the biggest club ever and everyone wants to ply for us". He's a tit, a spoilt little tit. Glad his muzzy jibbed him off after all those years having to sit on top of his lip hearing his mouth chat shyte every minute if the day.

they all presume players will be happy to join them from anywhere, they never mention how players are so quick to jet off, or in some players instances ... borini - they can't even sell them properly. they just presume they can jet off borini, balotelli and lambert and bring in a couple of top class strikers. where they getting it from? borini wouldn't leave last summer. balotelli has always been a good player, but barking mad that can't stay at a team for more than 5 seconds... at them he just looks poor, why would anyone touch him? why would lambert leave his boyhood club?
