you have therein raised some very salient points mate, which had me investigate the veracity of my claim re their failing to win the league. Interestingly, I have discovered some ambiguities . Officially they slipped up according to the reputable reference sites i.e. they did not win the EPL title. However, apparently they might have won some unofficial (or alternative) league. What exactly this latter league is comprised from/of remains however, somewhat inscrutable to me. It seems being top at Christmas has a high contributory coefficient toward this 'title', as does having the best banners at a ground, very high adult sized full kit sales, and generally just being the best supporters in the world. My Juventus supporting mate however, disagrees with the latter criterion and given the tendentious equivocality of all the other measuring benchmarks/input parameters , I think the alternative league might be a load of bollocks.
But if LFC want to print T-shirts and hire open top buses and stewards for their alternative league victory parade, I guess that is up to them. Seems a little desperate to me....
