Liverpool stood firm when Luis Suarez attempted to force through a move to Arsenal in 2013 and if necessary they will do so again with Sterling, who still has two years on his existing deal to run.

“We’ve made that clear,” he said.

“The owners are very much supportive of that. Raheem won’t be going anywhere in the summer, even if there isn’t a deal agreed.”

Fair play, was good of Rodgers to say this in his press conference

The Liverpool manager ended his press conference with a moving tribute to the 36-year-old and his family, saying: “Football was secondary today. Rio Ferdinand has been an incredible player and I heard the news about his wife while driving in today. Planes and everything is insignificant to what Rio and his family are going through. On behalf of everyone at Liverpool Football Club, and in the city, we pass on our condolences to him and his family.”

I applaud the sentiment wholeheartedly; however (and forgive me if I seem churlish, because it bugs me every time they claim it): employees of Liverpool Futball Cult DO NOT speak for the city.

Bet he's on route now with a wreath the weird little beaut

5 points, inc GD, in 3 games? Not impossible that. Or 2 games if we assume Jose will do them at Stamford Bridge......

Next 2 games each:
Palace vs United
United vs Arsenal

Chelsea vs Liverpool
Liverpool vs Palace

Can easily see United losing both games...Chelsea will already have the league won before they play Liverpool, so that makes that game winnable for the RS...if Liverpool are ahead going into the final day "they won't let it slip" again...

United really f**ked up yesterday.....gotta say as poor as Liverpool have been this year, it would be just like that club to fluke a top 4 spot with a crap team....

Liverpool are muck. They'll drop points somewhere too.

Oh, if only the greatest fans in the world had gone to Hull and supported their team, how different today would seem.........

Great piece in the Irish Independent this morning

After Liverpool's implosion in the Premier League last season and their exit from the Champions League in this, Rodgers exuded all the despair of a man who has popped in to the supermarket for some supplies on the way home but notes with irritation that they're out of semi-skimmed milk.

He pointed out in January that he had to make an 'intervention' after Liverpool lost to Crystal Palace in November, happy that this would be considered the turning point in the season. During this period of bold reinvention - when Rodgers went away to dream it all up again - Liverpool drew with Ludogorets and Basel as they casually exited a competition which it had meant so much to qualify for.

Hope so....
Thing is, its not that I think Liverpool are good enough to get top 4, it's that I think United are bad enough to throw it away...

Who knows, maybe spurs can overtake both of them yet...

I wouldn't worry mate.

They only won yesterday because the pressure was off. The first time they go into a game actually needing a result they'll choke again. The stench of failure is all over Rodgers and his players know it.
