Steve Finnan: I was the real hero of the miracle of Istanbul when Liverpool lifted Champions League trophy

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3096794/Steve-Finnan-real-hero-miracle-Istanbul-Liverpool-lifted-Champions-League-trophy.html#ixzz3bETFci7P

Former Liverpool ace Steve Finnan has claimed he was the real hero of the miracle of Istanbul
The Reds fought back from 3-0 down at half-time to beat AC Milan on penalties and lift the Champions League trophy in 2005
And defender Finnan insists his injury was the game changer as it forced manager Rafael Benitez to change his tactics.
'I always say I changed the game that night,' Finnan told the
Liverpool Echo.
'If I hadn't have got injured, we wouldn't have won the European Cup. That injury I got was the best thing that ever happened to Liverpool.'
Finnan suffered a thigh strain during the first half and physio Dave Galley informed Benitez that he would have to come off.
Benitez had initially planned to substitute Djimi Traore but he stayed on. Finnan was replaced by Didi Hamann with the Reds switching to three at the back. ................................................

We know. Twas ever thus, apart from in Fantasy Island....'the tactical genius of Benitez' hahaha zzzzzz

Problem for FSG is that the deluded, tit, kopite beaut fans won't except little or no cash being spent (they already think they haven't spent that much) especially if they get a fair wad of cash for Sterling. No cash being spent could work in Rodgers favour because it would mean the kopites turning their bile towards FSG.

the problem is the deluded tit fans will be expecting them to buy benzema, reus, hummels and a whole host of names of that ilk. they do every summer.

I think the Kopites are at the end of their tether with Gnashers and no amount of spin is going to pacify them. They'll attack Rodgers before they attack FSG now, it was the other way around a fortnight or so ago...and once the cult turn there is no chance of surviving.

They will be close to relegation next season, not even joking.
That might be a bit much, but unless they get their summer transfer business absolutely spot on they will be in real danger of finishing outside of the top 7, bottom half even maybe. Their defence hasn't improved at all (similar number of goals conceded as last season) and they can't score. GD was +4 at the end, that's 9th place stuff.

So, this brain dead moron says he won them the game by not being on the pitch. WTF?

Well the fans don't like the manager, that is not a good combination, and could ruin them next season.

FSG have got Rodgers exactly where they want him. A wounded Rodgers is good for them: it provides them with a bullet proof shield they can get behind while spending little or no cash this summer. The message will be loud and clear: "that rubbish you wasted our money on last summer - sell that lot and there's your fighting fund". Meanwhile, they can get on with paying down more of the stadium cost and take more steps closer to a sale and then exit.

Rodgers is a complete duffer who'll struggle to mount any CL spot challenge with the likes of Gerrard and Sterling out the way and replacing them with the players he's now linked with - Danny Ings FFS (and there's no way Benteke will throw in with that shambles).

Rodgers' name will be top of the bookies sack race list until he eventually does go.

Yes, with the Shadow of Klopp on sabbatical plaguing his every turn.

@SamWallaceIndy: Brendan Rodgers' job safe for now at LFC - Benteke, Ings & Milner the targets this summer http://t.co/UHwhgsKwuM http://t.co/V27fQAeYdA

Benteke would be the only useful player there and even then they wouldn't play to his strengths. This is why I love Brenda, he's a transfer market genius. I'd be disappointed if Ings and Milner were our top targets let alone Liverpool's. Allen Henderson Lucas and Milner. Imagine having to watch that every week.
