I thought Carragher came through around the same time as Gerrard.....i.e. after Owen

Tbf I think Couthino, Can Sterling and Ibe are counted in it the first two just turned 22. Sterling came from QPR and Ibe Wycombe.
They havnt produced one player organically from their academy locally for their first team bar Flannagan.
I find that article really disingenuous when you consider the players we have produced locally.
They're academy is gash.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that... the years of losing (league-wise) have been unkind on Stevie's fod... they're etched into it, like the tree-rings of a felled Californian redwood... an ancient timeline of pain - each crease is steeped in suffering.
I think there academy has actually slightly improved compared to how crap it used to be. Still a long way though I reckon from bringing through another Gerrard type player or a Carragher. I was talking about this to a colleague today and saying it's absolute criminal for clubs not to be producing local lads. Luckily I think we have a good crop coming through the next few years so we should see a few homegrown lads at least be given the chance.

Even their outlets of hope for a better future look bleak right now. It's music to my ears.
what did they expect? they bought him based on about 100 mins in the world cup. teams would have scouted benteke and lukaku and when he came on they were thinking who?
i've said it time and time again, he reminds me of sanogo, decent striker, but can't finish for love nor money - he should be a winger imo.
Most of their transfer acquisitions reek of 'Football Manager'. They bought Coates cos he got best young player at the Copa America award. And then there was Downing...
Origi made Tim howard look world class by shooting it straight at him 16 times.
This season while we were having a horrific season he was closed out of both games, failing to score a single goal by the likes of Tony Hibbert and Sylvain Distin, whose drop off this season has meant that the Paraguayan druglord Antolin Alcaraz has been preferred as a reserve defender over him.
Forgive me for not anointing him Liverpool's saviour
It gets you right here ,that.
