Great goal by Benteke tbf, think he'll do well for them this season, big improvement on Lambert & Borini.

That Bogdan is world class......Or he would be if you lot could spell.......

Love this. Apparently they're going to sign Traore and their fans are buzzing on Twitter. Bearing in mind he played in a team that got relegated from the second division in Spain last year.

i still don't know what a bloody successful dribble is (footballing terms obviously). If it's just beating a player or based on yards covered then it means jack s*it if the winger passes the ball at the closest defender.

Have to admit I don't know what to make of the rs this season. I've missed any of their preseason games so I don't know how they are set up.

Benteke is a very good plan B and if Sturridge can get back to fitness(big if) then that's 35 goals a season.

Firminio if he adapts quickly will score a few and Milner will steady things at the back allowing Henderson to further delude himself and Brenda that he's better than average.

Goalkeeper is below what's required for challenging at the top. The defence is an absolute shambles.
Verdict,if the attack gels and stays injury free, they'll be 5th or 6th. If it doesn't they are garbage at the back and easy to bully in the middle 8th-10th

Sturridge is finished lad, they're already spending the insurance.

Not worried about them. 5th is their glass ceiling. The top 4 will stay the same. They're finished for the time being as a major player...as they have been for years. The season they came second was an anomaly. Their league performance over the last eight years has been more reminiscent to ours...the major difference is about 300 million.

I know it's a vital part of his description or whatever... but I dunno if it has to be in the headline and even hyperlinked in every mention of our name within the article to other 'Everton FC' news. Happened months ago as well. Perhaps not part of some concerted agenda but it still riles me.

fixed

A teenager wearing an Everton FC tracksuit head butted the boy before stealing a small amount of cash.
He also tried to take the boy’s mobile phone but was disturbed by a female Liverpool supprter who shouted at him causing the thief to run off.

I do worry about what would happen if a top manager got access to the current squad on offer

He'd rip it to pieces and spend another quarter of a billion putting it together again. I mean what would the likes of Ancelotti or Guardiola do with Hendo, Allen, Lucas, Can, Skrtel, Mignolet, Borini, Balotelli, Lallana, Lovren. They are average at best. They've now also thrown all of their eggs into one big Benteke basket. Tactics would have to be based purely on utilising a big target man. Out of their current squad I think the additions of Benteke and Firmino are good ones, and Coutinho is good, Sturridge when fit, whilst Markovic should yet come good based on natural talent. Aside from that you are scraping the barrel for decent workhorses like Ings, Milner, Clyne and some decent youngsters like Ibe and Origi.

I'd say it's a top 6 squad and if anything Rodgers tends to get them to over perform (though it's his fault in the first place the players are so poor). A top manager wouldn't work with what is there though, he'd do what Van Gaal has done and just demand top European quality regardless of the price. They're in the same boat as we are in, hoping for that miracle manager who will smash the top 4 cieling, they just have more money than us. The longer they spend outside the ECL though the further adrift they will be cut. The likes of Benteke, Coutinho and Firmino are either foolishly hoping last year was the blip (everyone knows it wasn't) or that at the very least Liverpool will put them in the shop window for City or Barca.
