FFS Hodgson, they treated you like crap and you still can't stop doffing the cap to them. What an utter mediocrity that Ings is.

England manager Hodgson said: 'We followed Danny at Burnley last year but did’t have chance to bring him in. We didn’t want to rob the Under 21s, but he has been playing at Liverpool and scoring goals.

How many goals is that then Woy.......

I kind of don't mind Danny Ings, I think he should have been around the squad much earlier. I think he's a good bench option for England. What is gauling though is that Sturridge will be put straight back into the team and the whole structure will be changed to accommodate him. And we wonder why we struggle at Tournaments.

A recap of RAWK's posts from the last couple of months (i have the day off and i'm bored)

Poor souls think they won't be selling stones.

Hmmm, following the levels of glee around the Sterling drama. It's happening to them.

Would take barkley off there hands for 15m to replace lucas/Allen next season.

But he has none of the intelligence of Lucas or Allen, and plays in a different position than Lucas & Allen for us?

That would be [Poor language removed] hilarious if Mirallis jibbed them off for West Ham. They've been FEWMING about West Ham and Stoke lately. They seem to be angry that they're being ambitious and trying to sign better players than them

They only ever seem to sign players who were on loan - how do they expect to evolve?

Lukaka, Deulofeu, Barry and now Aaron [Poor language removed] Lennon? Jesus...

I think they will struggle next season.

Like a soon to be eunuch, Everton are about to lose their Stones.

They`re dumb as a bag of rocks.

Selling Stones is probably their only way to progress as a team by spending it on a fella or two who can score goals and make them a better team. Stones is a CB after all, use Evans or whatever and look to upgrade the woeful Naismith and Kone. It`s been a few years they outright bought somebody who wasn`t on loan with them and this is their only chance to push forward. They shouldn`t be mad about this they should be begging the club to sell him so they could finally have some money to maybe bring somebody in.

So, to sum up. Everton, with their [Poor language removed] defense from last season, let go two defenders (Alcaraz, Distin) and replaced them with... two midfielders (De la Soul and Clever la). They are now likely to lose Stones, the great white hope and possibly Myrallas. Sure, they will have about £30 million to spend, but they will still need to buy three defenders and a forward to replace those already gone.... There is a possibility their squad will look like this in a few weeks...

Goals
Tim Howard *
Joel Robles

Defence
Tony Hibbert *
Leighton Baines *
Phil Jagielka *
Bryan Oviedo
Séamus Coleman
Tyias Browning
Luke Garbutt
Brendan Galloway

Midfield

James McCarthy
Muhamed Bešić
Gareth Barry *
Gerard Deulofeu
Ross Barkley
Leon Osman *
Steven Pienaar *
Darron Gibson
Aiden McGeady *
Tom Cleverley

Forwards
Arouna Koné *
Romelu Lukaku
Steven Naismith
David Henen

* = 30+ years

Hopefully the Stones and Myrallas situation will drag on right up until the deadline and Everton won't have anytime to replace them.

I would also add that any injury to Lukaku and Everton's season is doomed.

Our [Poor language removed] defence has currently let in two fewer goals than theirs and have had a much harder start to the season. Bit our [Poor language removed] defence from last season? Let in two more than theirs.

Have those across Stanley Park read this yet?

One might expect Gary Cahill to be wary of Chelsea signing a £34m centre-back, but the Stamford Bridge defender says John Stones should leave Everton to join him at the Premier League champions.

Cahill said: "When a top club comes calling who you know will be firing on all fronts with competitions and medals, that's ultimately what you want to be playing for. It's hard to turn down of course.

"He will look at the club, look at the players, and look at being involved in a squad like ours. Could looking at my list of medals play a part too? Yes.

"The manager and the scouts make these decisions and he would be a great addition if he does come to Chelsea."

Lol fk off Cahill.

Everton, who were poor last season, are having an underwhelming summer in the market. Losing Stones as the season is almost here would be a big blow.

They say standing still is the worst thing you can do but Everton are on the verge of regressing quite a bit. They're looking vulnerable to me.

They are certainly good enough for relegations but so are about 5 other teams.

It's funny, there's a lot of bargaining going on with their fans at the moment. Some of them are saying they're made up they aren't signing players because it allows their kids to develop (the new United class of '92 apparently). They're actually worrying more about Stoke and West Ham than arsenal and Spurs now, sums up their decline

I think they're in real danger.

Looking at their squad, there's a lot of room for development and for them to put a good run of results together. But it was the same story last season and that failed to materialise. I think they will be fine, but I can't see them improving to keep pace with the likes of Spurs and ourselves.

They have to look at how teams like Southampton are improving, and if the likes of Newcastle, Stoke etc are going to improve and potentially leapfrog them this year. It's not looking great.

WOW!

I bet Everton sell Stones, but get him back on loan straight away. Either way, Everton are in awful trouble this seaso, this is their current defensive list.

Defence
Tony Hibbert
Leighton Baines
Phil Jagielka
John Stones
Bryan Oviedo
Séamus Coleman
Tyias Browning
Brendan Galloway

So that's 2 LBs (Baines, Oviedo), 2 Cbs (Stones, Jagielka) and 2 right backs (Coleman, Hibbert) withe two reserves on the bench with a grand total of 2 appearances between them last year. Hibbert, Baines and Jagielka are all over 30 and all, which means they are more prone to injury.

If they keep dicking around over Stones they will be rushed into a replacement. They will still be 1 injury away from a defensive crisis. Amazingly they released 2 CBs in the summer and brought in 2 midfielders instead. That after last seasons foul up of a backline. Meanwhile Howard is still first choice keeper. Their squad is [Poor language removed] at the minute, they have gone from a 5-8th place team to 9-16th, a dangerous slip. The only player they have of real value is Lukaku and they start a season completely dependent on him again. I am unconvinced by Martinez, but the board at Everton do the team no favours either.

Their opening ten games isn't that kind to them

Watford (H)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Tottenham (A)
Chelsea (H)
Swansea (A)
West Brom (A)
Liverpool (H)
Man Utd (H)
Arsenal (A)

If you use Burnley as a comparable for Watford (both finished 2nd in the Championship), Everton got 9 points out of a possible 30 from those same fixtures last year.

If you are looking at that you would think only Stones, Lukaku, Mirallas, McCarthy, Besic, Barkley, Coleman could genereate sufficient funds for a squad overhaul. Meanwhile, Everton are trying to fund a new stadium build and replace 8 players in the 30 year old bracket. I have heard some of their fans talking about the new TV deal coming through the pipeline, but all the clubs will be getting that increase, so once a short period of adjustment finishes, they will be back to square one. That period is going to happen in the next two to three seasons (as player prices and wages increase) but Everton are screwed for debt for the next two seasons, so how will they make the necessary replacement transfers, never mind improve the team? All that's left is youth players and loans, but neither is ideal. There only real hope is for a billionaire to come in and resolve their revenue problems, but FFP makes that even more unlikely and anyway, what kind of rich owner would come in and spend 100 million on the squad and a further £150-200 million on the stadium just to get Everton back to a level where they could compete with Swansea and Southampton? Meanwhile Liverpool keep getting further and futher away as they expand the stadium and get new sponsorship deals in. Everton will find it harder and harder to attract younger fans, its a tough negative spiral.

We'll be further away come Monday morning..but in the direction you were hoping for.

Guardian predicts Everton will come 8th

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jul/29/premier-league-preview-2015-16-everton

I am unsure what the basis for their optimism is. Their squad is older and crapper, they have no backs or forwards and they have so far bought in a free transfer and a reserve. The basis of Hunter's prediction seems to be derived from the fact that Stone is wanted by Chelsea and Everton might buy a defender. Crazy.

*post last season's table

Which 3 teams do you think they will improve more than? I only see them leapfrogging Palace. And they must be feeling some pressure from West Ham and Newcastle.

I cannot see 8th under any circumstance.

9 points off 8th last season. That is huge. The difference between CL and EL for Liverpool and Spurs, for example. They have bought next to nothing, their squad is older, they have lost defenders... how they can justify 8th is beyond me. I can see, Villa, West Ham and NUFC pushing them down the table. Could easily be caught up in a relegation dogfight. Everything depends on Lukaku. Pathetic really. He will be gone before long. If they sell Stone it won't be the player splurge they are hoping for either, most likely the board will wipe off debt and buy a cheap defender, possibly sicknote Evans.

That is some dude calling himself donkey wan, he's been a regular on this recap (anything to do with our sh1t ageing squad was probably posted by him).

As you can see he's a really knowledgeable chap and NUFC and Villa are currently tearing up the league just like he foresaw.

That'll do for now.

Cannot wait until we bum them hard on Sunday.
