ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

If any decent manager (which Klopp is) is given £300M over three seasons then they'll land a trophy. It wont be the PL title, but a domestic cup/EL.

I fully expect a turnaround of sorts, because there's only one way to go there - up. I just dont see him having anything like the impact on English football that he had in Germany. Having watched about 6 seasons of the Bundesliga on the bounce avidly I see a league that's pretty lame in many areas. There's great GKs sure, but they have to be because the standard of defending is atrocious. It's a league that's not that competitive, despite the claims otherwise. I could comfortably say that beyond Bayern and maybe Wolfsburg at the minute the rest of them would be demolished week in week out over here apart from maybe when playing a Newcastle or Sunderland in their current form.

Klopp's biggest plus point was his CL run a couple of seasons back. But I think they caught a Real Madrid side that were arrogant and not doing their job in the tie they had with them. Bayern Munich always looked the superior team in the final. It was close scoreline wise, but Bayern were far and away the better team.
If the German league is so bad, and the English league so much better, why are Germany above England in the UEFA co-efficients?

I'm guessing people are arguing that it's more competitive, that the bottom half of the English table is better than the bottom half of the German table, and that additionally there are more sides competing for CL spots.

I don't know if that's actually true. Hard to compare the clubs lower on the table. The more top sides thing is definitely BS. Right now, it's the Mancs, Chelsea, and Arsenal, and anybody else who cracks through is an aberration.

Possibly. But more likely is that now that the RS have a German manager, some people are playing down that league to try and reassure themselves that Klopp is rubbish.
Not playing it down but its clearly less intense and ruthless, which will be less forgiving to his style

Seems like he is backtracking already.

Liverpool’s trophy manager asks for time to win trophies

“People should not make me out to be like Jesus, I don’t walk on water,” he said. “I understand that there are huge expectations surrounding this club, and expectations are important in life, not just football, but I hope no one really thinks I can perform wonders. Of course I cannot. I am not really enjoying all this attention, to be honest. I didn’t ask for it and I am hoping that after the initial big hype we can all cool down a little and get to work.

“I am glad everyone seems happy I am here, but some people seem to think that because Jürgen is here everything will change. I can’t promise that. Some things will change, for sure, and I might be different to other managers in some respects, but we cannot change the whole world in one day. I am sure Liverpool fans are clever enough to understand that we need time. If things need changing I want to do it as soon as possible, but patience is important.”

Oh dear, 'clever enough'. He doesn't have time his appointment has sent the delusional Kopites into uncontrollable excitement. He just doesn't know what he has let himself in for.

This is exactly like when Joe Cole signed. They strongarmed a lame quote out of him about joining the greatest club in the world, which he attempted to play down (but not until he'd left the club, mind). I imagine Klopp is already thinking 'Jeez, what have I done?!'
