ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I work on the trains at Lime Street and when Liverpool play at home you know it. Those airport trains are rammed with Norwegians and Irish and whoever else is aboard the footballing tourist trade. Liverpool FC have, for year now, slowly been growing the foreign influx of fans. They have marketed the brand brilliantly abroad. After all its only these people who will pay the prices an spend money in the ground and in the shops and the museum. I have a number of mates who don't go now and sell on their season ticket at the start of the year. Its the same with some in work too. Having said that £77 is steep, with the amount of money in the game its greed.

The bigger picture could also say that the "hardcore" fans are also protesting about the team as well. They have spent a fortune and they look ordinary. They all have the Committee to blame really. They have come together over a common grievance but those flying in from where ever are not going to be too arsed to understand the tribal mutterings. I unfortunately live by Anfield and on match day you see the legions of fans on a weekend break passing my window hours before kick off. Scarfs and hats and LFC bags flapping in the wind Nikons round their neck. Liverpool is losing that local identity and selling out to the corporate machine. With so much money in the game and with its popular appeal across the world this is one of the inevitable side effects.

Have a lot of time for the principle of their protest yesterday, I'm fully behind the school of thought that this new TV deal means ticket prices should drop substantially, not go the other way, especially your average match going tickets (I'm fine with fancy expensive hospitality packages).

On the pitch though, they're dire. This is the first time I ca ever remember in the premier league where we comfortably have a better XI and squad. On the pitch their defence is atrocious, their midfield lacks some real steal and composure and their best striker may not play another 10 games for them. They're saved by the fact they do have some good attacking midfield quality and that's gotten them some good results this season, but if they don't go on a big spending spree this summer, they'll remain miles off champions league football for a considerable time yet, regardless of their manager.

Cost me my coupon as I couldn't see Blunderland getting a point. Least I got my money back off it.

Gives me another reason to despise them even more not that I need one.

So, let's get this right. 10,000 walked out - that must be a sizeable proportion of the regulars - i.e. not the borrowed season ticket holders or Johann Foreigners - but wouldn't loads of them be even better off when they tout their tickets for even more money from the visitors?

They must have felt very pleased with themselves leaving Anfield early yesterday: two goals up and their "look at me, look at me" protest picking up media attention...

....then they got hauled back to 2-2 and realised they contributed to their own team dropping two points, and they're all at each others throats.

Lol.

The funny thing is that their cause was justified (no matter how many seats are initially involved, that'd be the thin end of the wedge). But they could have made that protest from their seats and still supported their team.

Just like in the "title" run in a few seasons back, the Kopites killed their own team on the pitch jus because they wanted to be the centre of attention.

Ha Ha Ha.

*waves at RAWK*

Can someone clear this up for me but isn't only about 200 seats getting an increase?

Yes

They have reduced ticket prices behind both goals as well

Its only 200 new seats in the new stand, You know the ones that haven't been built or sold of yet

Not sure what there problem is, Nobodys seats are being taken away, Nobodys current prices are being driven up

If someone wants to pay £77 per game which I'm sure they will let them crack on
