Torres was highly rated, but wouldnt say he was wurld klass when signed, he was for about 12months the best striker in Europe, but not when they signed him.

Saying that, hard pressed to think of us ever buying a world class player personally, recently tho we could hardly have afforded 1 and you need CL football to even attempt to attract them.
