ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Very interesting post. You mention being at Uni in Manchester. When was that. My brother was there in the 80s and early 90s (lived a stone's throw from Maine Road) and I remember him saying that 'people' of Manchester were insanely jealous of Liverpool the city. And it was down to the success of both Merseyside clubs. Could it be that the hatred of Scousers per se was born (or accentuated) in that period when We shared a local, and top of the table rivalry.

They even forced through an act of Parliament to get a canal built to undermine us.

Though to be honest the Lpool and Manchester were offered the chance of having the Burtonwood airbase (monster runway for then, acres of space) but the lpool council knocked it back...and now Manchester is the hub

I thought that was Edinburgh?

Nope.

Outside of Londinium, Liverpool has the most listed buildings - I wasn't born when they pulled down all the Georgian houses around the university/ Myrtle St area, but if you could imagine how it'd look if all those Georgian Buildings were stlll there? (Unless you already know?!?)

All of them occupied/ owned by merchants/traders/businessmen and what have ya. 800,000+ people;and at one time there was only Evertonians...

And then along came John Houlding...

They seem to be talking Coutinho down in preparation of losing him - seems quite typical but conversely it gives a measured evaluation of him.

Don't think that prozzy Firminho is all that, would be interesting to see them try and replace Coutinho. i.e. watch them slip further down the league, hopefully.

Now I'm not a huge fan of our potential new manager but over on RAWK.....

Anybody know if Koeman is actually a childhood RS?

They really are letting it get to them.......

They are running out of players who will fetch a decent fee. I hope their committee goes and spunks another 100 mill on average players. Without their commercial income they would be in trouble as their wage bill is 150 mill a year.

Yeah, but don't forget that their billionaire is far richer than our billionaire and just loves spending money on second rate players...........
