ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

From RAWK ref the APLT:

"The aplt doesn't model on getting the same result at home to the weakest team as away to the hardest. It could be made much more complicated as has been discussed over the years, by creating an algorithm to include a difficult rating in order to make an expectation for each fixture, but this would never (or extremely rarely) be an integer, let alone be a possible points haul from a fixture (1 or 3 points). I like the simplicity of the model and it provides a method of creating the graph against par which I like to think is visually a good tool for representing the season."

Well that clears that up then :celebrate:

this is exactly how they used to word Maths questions back in school exams. Took you 6 reads to figure out what type of answer they wanted

I actually like the idea of an alternative table that adjusts for fixture difficulty but theirs is just stupid. It's based 100% on the previois season which means the data is very stale. Also Watford away is considered a more difficult fixture than Manchester City at home.

He's done it many times now. Trying to show that he cares too much to look....[Poor language removed]

Edit - Will I get banned for my poor language towards Klopp? Or is it a casual warning

it'll buy you some time in the cooler if you do it persistently
I tend to substitute out other words that aren't classed as swearing

I absolutely detest the impatient fans who are digging into Klopp right now with a passion. They are the type of people who want to eat the cake before it goes in the oven, to move into the newly built house before the roof has been put on or want the first pay check before doing a stroke of work. It's all about the end result and they want it NOW NOW NOW.

They don't have a [Poor language removed] clue how to built a football team, don't have a [Poor language removed] clue how to manage people and don't have a [Poor language removed] clue about creating something special. They are like a cancer within a fanbase and they wind me up something rotten. All you dopes giving it the big one about Klopp not being good enough and the start to this season not being acceptable want to give your heads a wobble. BE PATIENT and give the manager time to build this side because it will get better, a lot better.

Three games this season, all away from home and two against the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the league last season and we have been the better side in all of them. We are on the right track and it just needs more fine tuning before we hit the high notes. Stop embarrassing yourselves and making yourselves look like impatient spoilt little brats and have some faith in the world class manager we have at the helm.

Superb post. Also, anybody setting Klopp targets (e.g, anything less than 4th is unacceptable etc etc, you know who you are) can get to [Poor language removed] as well.

The man is a genius, he is one of us and we should count our blessings every day that he is here. He can set his own targets, ta very much.

the fawning in full effect here
'klopp can set his own targets' looks like he's set them as 'mid table forever' and they'll all just have to be happy with it
watching them tear themselves apart as more and more of them realise what a fraud klopp is will be delicious

In other words we went with a stupidly simplistic model because we've no idea how to program a proper one.

They are so determined to be aficionados, to be the intellectual elite they cling to this wannabee data analysis.

It's waffle-spouting spoofers like these that give analytics such a bad name amongst football fans.

Why do you think he is a fraud mate,i would be interested to know thanks.

because he totally believes in his own hype - see how he insists on playing milner as a lb instead of buying a decent lb; because if it works he'll be the quirky genius. He constantly does stuff like this, talks in platitudes and generally should be checked for Martinez bites
and they eat it up across the park

he did well in a league with one competitor and a much weaker standard overall, i'd hazard a guess that most English managers could do a job in the german league

How much is Klopp on? Every LFC fan I know has said they need a left back, yet he has had all summer and not replaced Moreno. It's shocking management, they have Milner starting there now, it's the equivalent of us playing Cleverley left back. There's no excuse.
