Steven Gerrard furious after presenter makes brutal Premier League slip joke live on air

After Liverpool beat Plymouth in the third round of the FA Cup the former England captain fell victim to a joke about Scousers by Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock.

This was followed by a barb from Man United flop Alex Buttner before he was forced to watch the Reds suffer their first home defeat at Anfield this season as they lost 3-2 to Swansea.

And BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey decided to add to the former England captain's pain during a post-match analysis of Man City and Spurs' 2-2 draw.

Gerrard praised current Premier League toppers Chelsea for their consistent performances all season, saying: "Chelsea are just playing week in, week out."
The 36-year-old then went on to compare it to his time at Anfield, adding: "We had that at Liverpool when we were favourites to win the title."

Jake then jumps in to say: "Talking of slips!"

The gag references a horrendous moment in Gerrard's career in 2014 when – after riding on a 16-game unbeaten streak – the midfielder slipped while receiving a pass allowing Chelsea's Demba Ba to run on and score, resulting in Liverpool losing out on the Premier League that season.

It's heart warming to know that this will never leave him. Ever. Even when he's trying to punch out the bingo caller in his retirement home, he'll be known as Slippy G.
