It would have been quicker to answer me... but I suppose pretending it never happened is fine with you.

You're attempting to draw me into your narrative. It did happen, obviously, and it's been discussed in length by me personally in this very thread but as ever it descended into the usual boring attacks on me

"But hurr durr bet u think it was chelsea fanz Jerry"

If you're that desperate to see my views just press the back button a couple of times and find them. No avoidance here, not going to repeat myself though.

You are repeating yourself about not repeating yourself.

Would have been quicker to answer his question.

*lifts up carpet*
*hands Gerry brush*

Carry on.

Can't say that Clichy and Solanke scream 'we're back in the big time' but it's better than re-signing Jose Baxter.
Thing is mate, those two you used as an example represent experienced back up and real raw potential.

Solanke for free might end up being at the same level as Kane in a few years, whereas he could also struggle. Point is if it ended up the former then whoever bags him cheap will see it as worth the gamble.

In terms of Clichy type players, played at the top level and experienced there enough to until release be a squad player at teams much better than us. I personally see Sagna for example as a perfect player to bring in as cover for Coleman as no matter how good or isn't he might be now, he has experience to at least sit back and defend.

They sound like the type of signings we would make whilst our rivals buy top players in their prime. Not saying you're not correct but they're once again hoping Klopp makes a silk purse out of a sows ear whilst City are going out and getting Guardiola top players in every position.

But the difference between out 'rivals' and us is that they have the pull and the money to sign these players. We don't. I for one have advotcated for a while now that we need to buy a unit rather than individual players and this still remains valid.

So in topic of this thread, yes them lot are praying Klopp can pull out the improbable over there on lack of money but there difference i want to see here is that we buy well for their buying in hope. Look how many players Klopp brought in last year that didn't succeed? How many who haven't over the last 3-4 years, we just need to make sure our hit rate is a lot better than them and the squad benefits as a result.

They can have their 4th place now, pressure is on for them. At least we can continue building out the spotlight for the next year and hopefully start to build a real foundation now.

He's going to cost about £3m and Liverpool and he's signing for them because they're paying him £1m a year, he's not free. Watching the u-20 world cup and he looks worse than DCL.

Clichy was never that good and is massively injury prone anyway.

I'd be fuming if I was a kopite.

So if solanke turns out to be a good striker and can score 20 + goals in only a few years would that 3 million not be cheap in retrospect?

There is plenty of talent in the game that is restricted to being part of the big club reserves before they have to cut their losses and move to the lower leagues. I would welcome everton giving contracts to some of them in the hope that their talent can be built upon for the future.

but even worst case scenario solanke could be sold to a bottom half team in a couple of years for about 5 times what they will pay for him, so great business whichever way you look at it.
