ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

They're still buzzing off their trophy win. All over the airwaves made up they're being talked about in the same breath as City and Chelsea and United.

Well done Liverpool. You're still a *big* club. You dont have to win the title to prove that. That's no measurement at all.

My RS mate was doing the same until I asked the score, when he said 4-3 I mentioned that when we played them at home it was 4-0..........but, but, but, but.......

Clash of the titans it was on Sunday. Two title contenders going toe-to-toe.

Liverpool = huge club who easily outperform City on the pitch now as well as in the keyring and mobile phone cover market in south east Asia.

They only care about column inches now, not trophies. Any player of any note leaves them to win some shiny pots. As long as people are talking about them they’re happy. Me me me me. We’re definitely still relevant if we say it enough times.

Cold hard facts are that Klopp bottled his best two trophy chances in his first season and then failed to win what was probably his best chance at the title last season (no Europe, all other top teams with new managers, no obvious favourite), in fact he was nowhere near it limping past a pathetic Arsenal. Whilst Mourinho and Guardiola are at United and City he’s going to find it virtually impossible to win it. For all the fanfare about their league performances they are matched and bettered by these two and even Conte who apparently isn’t having a good season.

At any REAL big club Klopp would have been fired by now and certainly would be if he finishes his season empty handed. At Liverpool though he’s revered for taking them to the same position that they fired Rafael for not bettering and mocked Wenger mercilessly for (the irony when he was still finishing ahead of them year in year out).

They can keep celebrating all the imaginary trophies they want if it stops their fans demanding answers to why they’ve mounted two credible title challenges in 28 years.

That's definitely true. They dont even bother now at the start of every season to talk up their title chances. It's an unwanted embarrassment for them. They live for the media pat on the head. Their idea of a successful season is to claw their way to 4th and have loads of live tv matches where the commentators praise the atmosphere of Anfield and give coverage to their banner 'creativity', and talk up the rivalry with Man Utd as the "English El Classico".

In reality they are and have been for years Elite club Division two: not a rival for the real elite but too strong for the rest of the PL.

In reality there’s a big 3 and a smaller 3 then 14 shades of dross. If Griezmann Dybala Bale Mbappe came on the market only 3 clubs in England would have a chance. Spurs Arsenal and Liverpool wouldn’t even enter the thought process of those players or their agents. Arsenal fans know this and are irate that they’re not in the top bracket, Spurs fans know it but are just glad Pochettino and Kane have lifted them into that company. Then there’s Liverpool fans who think they’re in a big 2 with City. The only set of fans in the league who don’t recognise their real world standing.

What are you talking about? City can only dream of being in the same bracket as der mightie redz.

World's biggest club. No one has ever won more trophies than them. And if they had, they wouldn't have been won in such magical ways.

Imagine if they were United and their fans came buzzing in to work after a 4-3 win over City, you would just go yeah, ok, agree with them and move on. But, unfortunately, it isn't the case and there's that extra dig available to twist the knife in, youse lost 4-0 blah blah blah... and it will probably last all week complete with Full Kit Friday (or whatever dress down arrangements your workplace allow).

Bonus Point for the first report of the Gobshoite using the goal commentary (or something similar) as their phone ringtone...

I’ve had similar ...” When was the last time you put 4 past City ? “

“ Err , last season . Softlad “

Kopite now looking confused

Didn’t count. We’re not in the top 6 therefore that result is irrelevant to the football world.

Just tell them that the term "Top six" was only created by Sky/BT/BBC to allow Liverpool and Arsenal to still be described as big clubs. Which is the truth.

I didn't realise that all of the RS transfer committee all worked with Big Sam at Bolton and Blackburn.

Seeing they are linked with the Roma Goalkeeper called Alison.lol
